"Nancy!" I said, shaking her in a failed attempt to wake her and Robin up.

She stirred slightly and opened her eyes.

"Huh?" she said, sitting upright when she saw me.

"It's almost nine," I told her and she gasped.

"Sh!t!" she cried, jumping to her feet from the small bed in the corner of the room.

Max and I had woken up only minutes before and Max was currently getting dressed in the bathroom.

Robin woke, staring in confusion at the chaos that had become in the once-calm bedroom.

"What's going on?" she asked and Nancy cursed under her breath as she tripped on the strap of my bag.

"Its nearly nine!" she almost screamed and Robin's eyes widened.

"Oh sh!t. My shift starts at nine thirty!" She exclaimed, leaping off of the bed.

Max walked back inside and was nearly bowled over by Nancy and Robin who were racing out of the room to get changed.

"You're going in there together?" Max called and I stifled a laugh.

"Shut up Mayfield!" Robin called back, disappearing into the bathroom and Max turned to me with a grin.

"They are so making out right now. I can feel it," she said and I rolled my eyes with a grin.

"I don't know...they're running late," I reasoned and Max sighed.

"Well, I guess we'll just have to do it for them," she said with a sly smile, pulling me into a kiss.

"Hey! Lovebirds! Lets pick up the pace!" Nancy cried, her belt hanging half done around her narrow waist, and I sighed, pulling away from Max.

"Yeah, way to ruin the moment, Wheeler." Max shot back as the two older girls led us outside and into the car.

"Look. We don't have time to argue about this right now, we just need to drive. I can't be late. Robin cant be late. Okay?" Nancy said, as she began to drive toward the high school.

I raised my eyebrows at Max. Nancy wasn't usually this short tempered, but when it came to her job, she was.

Ever since the start of this school year, she had been working for the small school paper that she had founded; the Hawkins Tiger.

She worked nearly everyday except weekends, even during summer, as they 'needed to work faster to keep up'.

Though Nancy created, and effectively owned the paper, she didn't work alone.

She'd gone through seven assistants already and apparently, she was meeting her newest one today.

Meanwhile, Robin was holding the same job as last year; working at Scoops Ahoy with Steve Harrington.

El and I didn't really have the need for a job, especially with everything that was going on with the house.

We were half moved out of both the Byers' house and Hop's cabin, although we weren't even minorly moved into our new and, vaguely, improved two-storey house off the corner of Madison Road.

So instead, we just hung out at the mall with Robin and Steve waiting for Nancy to join us.

"When we're all moved in,  do you wanna get jobs?" Max asked as we walked through the mall toward Scoops Ahoy with Robin.

"I guess so. Where would we work though?" I asked. Max giggled.

"We could be those bored shop assistants. 'That'll be four ninety-nine," Max joked, putting on a bored sounding voice.

I laughed and she turned to grin at me, bumping into another girl.

"My God. Watch where you're going! Somebody's going to have an accident," she said, her voice high and irritating.

Max rolled her eyes.

"Yeah, okay Barbie."

The girl stared at her for a moment before rolling her own eyes.

"What is your damage? Did I like, insult your girlfriend or something? Geez," she said, a mocking tone to her voice.

My mouth set into a tight line, and Robin whipped around, hearing the conversation.

"Hey! Lisa! Why don't you mind your own business for once," she said and the girl glared at her.

"Yeah, okay, whatever. Not like I want to hang around you losers,"

Robin glared back.

"Want some ice cream?" she asked, her voice tight.

The girl stared at her as if she was insane.

"God no! You know how many calories are in those things?" she exclaimed.

"Just trying to do my job Lisa," Robin said with a shrug and the girl finally walked away.

"B*tch," Robin muttered under her breath as she walked around behind the counter of Scoops.

"Oh hey Robin," Steve said, appearing from behind the door.

"Hey," she said and he frowned.

"What's wrong?"

Max hissed under her breath.

"Just that girl," Max told him and Steve glanced over at the two of us.

"Who? Lisa?" he asked and the three of us nodded.

"I'll deal with her. You know, if you want me to," he said and Robin rolled her eyes.

"No, you won't and no, we don't. How about you just do your job and try not to get beat up?" she suggested with a teasing grin.

Steve sighed.

"Whatever," he muttered.

A familiar gaggle of voices sounded behind me, and I turned, only to see Lucas, Mike and Will walking towards us.

"Max," I said and she turned.

"Oh my God. Those a*sholes," she cursed and I glared.

"What the hell are they doing here?" Robin asked as she cleaned a row of scoopers.

"Uh, it's a mall? Buying ice cream? I thought you liked those guys anyway," Steve said and us girls rolled our eyes collectively.

"You are so behind its not funny," Max said and he just stared at her.

"Behind? Behind how?"

"Mike might still like El, and he and Lucas have been complete jerks to Max and El the entire last year. Will likes Mike but is too scared to tell him and your so called best friend Dustin hasn't spoken to either of them since school started this year," Robin filled him in, her words jumbling together.

"Did you catch that?" she asked and he shrugged.

"I think so,"
