Saturday

Today was the day I would be going out with my friends to watch Emi's boyfriend play basketball.

I shouted upstairs to get my little brother's attention, "Hey Yu, are you ready?" However, I didn't get any response from him. I marched upstairs, determined to wake him up and get him ready on time. As I reached his room, I found him fast asleep. I shook him vigorously and said, "Wake up, Yu! You're going to miss the game. I will leave without you." That made him jump directly out of bed and into the bathroom. I had to laugh a little. Mika would be picking us up in 10 minutes and he needed to be ready before that. I didn't want to make her wait.

I went downstairs again to collect my purse and everything I would need later at work. Just a few minutes after Yu sprinted down the stairs confirming that he was finished, the doorbell rang. Mika was here. I opened the door leading Yu out and greeting my best friend. "Hey, honey!" We hugged. "Hey, little one." She said hi to my brother. "Mika!" He was excited to see her again. It was adorable.

The gym where he would be playing was a 15-minute walk from my home. On my way there I updated Mika with everything I have done with Atsumu in our extra training lessons. I excitedly told her about the jump float serves.

"Hey, girls!" Emi ecstatically greeted us. "Emi!" I hugged her."Hey, little one!" She then greeted my brother. "He is already inside playing.", she explained. "Aia and Ran are going to be tardy. They missed their bus. Let's go inside, shall we?" We followed her into the gym making small talk on the way there. "So, any news on our favorite arrogant ass?" She asked cheekily. "He is not arrogant!" I denied. "Just a little!" She laughed. Mika joined in. "NO! But we did work on jump float serves last time." I proudly told Emi. "Oh really? How did it go?" "Amazing! He was so patient and explained every single small detail! I learned so much and I even got one over to the other side!" I passionately recounted. "Oh, and he showed me his serve multiple times and always, and when I say always I mean always corrected my posture even if it was just a tiny mistake!" For some reason, they both started cracking up. "Whaaaat?" I whined. "You sound extremely excited and it is just so cute!" Emi explained.

When we got to the stands we could see players already warming up. Emi waved to her boyfriend and he sweetly blew her a kiss. Such a cute gesture. After a few more minutes Ran and Aia finally met up with us. My little brother loved the attention he was getting from my teammates. They all adored him. Together we watched the sensational game. There were lots of good passes and impressive dunks as well as a few cheeky steals here and there. Overall the game ended with a score of 83:77 resulting in the team of Emi's boyfriend winning. All I could hear were adrenalized screams from right beside me. Who's excited now? I enjoyed the game a lot and so did my brother thankfully.

Our group waited in front of the gym for Emi's boyfriend to come out so we could all leave together for my shift at the restaurant. As soon as he left the gym he was greeted by Emi jumping at him and giving a smooch. I covered my brother's eyes. "Not kid-friendly, Emi." Mika joked. "Fuck off!" She answered while giving him another kiss. "NO SWEARING!" I reminded her. "I'm not letting my brother corrupt as much as guys all are." "You included, Y/N." Aia said. We all had a small laugh and made our way to the restaurant.

At the restaurant, I directly changed into my work clothes and put my hair up into a ponytail so it would not get in the way. The first table I served was the one my friends sat at. I got their order for drinks and food and brought it into the kitchen. It was not full at the moment. Most of the guests only came in the evening to dine here but I never worked evenings on Saturdays.

I brought out their food a few minutes later. My brother was enjoying himself in their company. I was glad. Maybe I should bring the bundle of joy a little more often with me. I collected the orders of the other guests and went back into the kitchen to deliver them. On my way out the manager stopped me. "Hey Y/N, a group of 10 just called, can you prepare a table for them?" "Yeah, sure. When are they coming?" "I think in 30min. It was a short-term decision." "Okay, will do." "Thank you. When are you leaving?" "My colleague comes in at 4 pm. I guess I will leave then." He looked at his watch. "So two more hours then?" I nodded. "Okay, great. I'm going to be in the back. If there are any complications just call for me." I nodded again and went my way to prepare the table for the incoming group of people. We'd often welcome large groups of people. It was a fancy restaurant after all. Nights of company dinners were nights on which we servers and the restaurant earned the most. But they normally don't come in so early. It was only 2 pm. I set the table and went into the kitchen to collect the finished orders and serve them. Then I collected the pay from some guests and shortly stopped by my friends' table. Aia and Rand were discussing with Emi's boyfriend about basketball and Mika and Emi took care of and enjoyed themselves with my little brother. "How are you holding up?" I asked the group. "Very good! It's delicious, Y/N!" Emi answered. "Lovely, I'll the cook that you're enjoying your meal. So what is your plan for the rest of the day?" "I guess wait for you to get off?" Mika suggested. "Sorry, I can't." Emi sadly confessed. "I've got plans with my sweetie here." She pointed to her boyfriend. "Well, just tell me when you're leaving so I can say goodbye!" They nodded. "I'll leave you for now I have a group of 10 coming up." I told them and left.
