Then his vision was gone.
"Guys, I can't see" he could hear but it all sounded muffled, he was swinging his arms around to try and feel for something around him, anything, but there was nothing "MINHO, GALLY" He shouted, each time he talk he found his voice getting more quiet. He didn't know when but he had stood up. He screamed for his friends, but this time it was different. He couldn't hear his own voice, It was completely gone. He kept throwing his hands around, trying to find his friends, he could feel himself screaming but he didn't hear himself. "I CAN'T SEE" This time he could hear his own voice. The air around him felt stale, and his voice echoed "WHY CAN'T I SEE."
Someone grabbed his wrist, not tightly more just holding them. "LET GO, WHY CAN'T I SEE" Thomas shouted swinging his body, the hands tightened around his wrist, they were firm but gentle and smooth.
"Tommy, you can see, just open your eyes." He recognized the voice, he opened his eyes quickly but closed them almost immediately due to the light blinding his eyes, it reminded him of when he first got into the maze. The room was dark but there were lights going straight to his face, He lifted his arm up to block the lights just enough to see the person infront of him.
When he knew he was right, he threw his body towards newt.
He had no idea what was happening, how any of this was possible but at the moment he didn't care. They stumbled back a couple steps back and Thomas had almost lost his footing, but caught himself before he could fall.
He backed up putting his hands on newt shoulders, pushing him just arms length away. "How, what" he studered over a couple more words until newt just pulled him back into the hug.
{Time skip}
Thomas still had no idea what was going on the past half an hour had gone by like a blur, some tall guys in suites came and took Thomas out of the room. He had tried to fight it not wanting to leave newt again, but newt had reassured Thomas that everything was okay.
Thomas trusted newt, with his life.
They had taken thomas to a plan grey room, with a table in the middle with two chairs. The room was warm and started to Thomas feal tired.
After about what felt like an hour a guy came in, he had dirty blonde hair with blueish green eyes, he was in a suit.
"Where am I, where is newt, what happened to newt, what is going on" Thomas had a million questions.
"I will answer all those questions, but I just have to ask you a few first tommy"
"It's Thomas." He didn't know this guy, plus that was newts nickname. The guy had a note pad and pen, Thomas watched as he wrote something down.
"Okay Thomas, if you don't mind me asking, what is the last thing you remember from the game" the man said looking up to Thomas. "The game?" Thomas questioned.
"Thomas I'm going to ask you just answer everything I ask before I answer your questions, what were the last things you remember before being pulled out" he sounded sturn. Thomas was to tired to keep arguing. He wanted to be with newt and find Minho Gally and fry.
"I was sitting at the safe haven with Minho, frypan and Gally" he said, he watched as the man as he scribbled down some notes.
He everted his eyes to the man's name plate the read jimmy.
"How much do you remember before the maze" jimmy asked. "Nothing, will I get my memories back" "it's a choice, but we highly recommend it"
"How do I know you're not just an associate with wicked" Thomas asked "because you're out of the game" jimmy said not taking his eyes from the note pad. "See you keep saying the game, but I have no idea what you mean but that what game"
"A year ago we started the first trials of our game, the maze, we asked for a dozen or so boys to come try the game, so everyone who was in your 'maze' " he said doing air quotes "were really people in a virtual reality game including you. There were a few people you met along the way who were real as well, such as Brenda, jorge, Aris but almost everyone else was just coded in"
Thomas was in shock, he had no idea what to say. "Were is newt" Newt was the only one that Thomas new was here, not that it maddered, Thomas would have chosen to be with him then anyone else.
"He's in his quarters" the man said "I can bring you to him when we are done." Thomas just nodded.
{Time skip}
Jimmy had questioned him for a while longer. "Okay" he flipped the note book shut "Thomas, we are done here" jimmy said standing up, using his legs to push his chair back, Thomas followed.
He lead him down a long hall, until they got to a door, it had Newts name on the door. The man knocked on the door, Newt opened the door. Thomas toke a deep exhale, he hadn't realized he was holding his breath. "Come on in tommy" Newt said. The room was the same shade as the room before, there was a side table, a desk and a door. He heard jimmy and newt talking, then newt Shut the door, that's when Thomas turned around.
They stood only about three feet away from each other, Thomas made the first move, pulling Newt once again into a hug. He pushed his face into the spot between Newts shoulder and jaw.
He thought he was going to be able to keep it together, but when Newt started rubbing his back he broke. Now sobbing Thomas tightened his grip on newt. "Hey Tommy, your okay" he said moving his hand up to the back of Thomas's head.
"What is happening Newt, where is Minho" Thomas cried. Then something came to realization, If Newt was alive, he backed himself up again " Where is chuck."
Newt just lightly smiled "Tommy, you are tired, you lay down and when you wake up we'll go see everyone."
Thomas just nodded and headed for the door, he had no idea where he was headed. "You can stay in here if you want" He heard Newt say, he was glad newt offered because he did not want to be alone right now.
Newt had shown him were the bath room was, which was the other door in the room. Thomas was know laying down, looking at Newt who was paying no attention to him.
He was writing something down or drawing, Thomas couldnt tell. He just stared at the smaller boy, his blonde hair, it wasn't as dirty as he remembered, but that was probably because now they had access to warm and running water, Newt sat surprisingly straight. He watched as Newt turned over to see him looking him , he just smiled "go to sleep tommy"
