Okay low-key this is kinda my favourite part of this series. Like I know you are not supposed to have a favourite child this is it. This is my favourite child.
(please still read the other parts tho, though I put a lot of work into all of them 🥺😅)
ANWAY, if ya all want the other parts early check out the podfic versions of them on my YT.
For everyone who prefers hearing the story there is an audiobook version at the bottom of the chapter.
------------------------Atsumu wasn't quite sure how to do this so straightforward was probably the best way. The only problem... He was a coward when it came to things like this, aka potentially making Kiyoomi mad at him — it didn't pair well with his need for affection and reassurance — though he would never admit that. He ended up debating with himself for way too long every time.
He contemplated all the possible outcomes and how to upset Omi the least in the process. There was part of him that truly needed to know if Sakusa would miss him if he was gone, he needed to see him care like the others, like Aran or his brother, heck even Kenma had been caring in his own way when it came to this and nobody knew how Iwa reacted but since Kawa hadn't been all pouty it probably wasn't bad or at least not dismissive.
But he was scared more than anything that Kiyoomi would get annoyed by the question or worse not care at all...
"Tsumu, I can hear you thinking all the way here in the living room. Either come here and spit it out or call your brother."
Atsumu startled. How in hell...?
Sakusa must have some supernatural abilities and he wouldn't be convinced otherwise. He walked into the living room eyes narrowed at his boyfriend.
"How did you...? Are you a witch by any chance?"Sakusa scoffed, amused.
"Atsumu, just accept it. I know you."
He looked up from the book he was holding and smiled at the blonde. It was a smile that in his humble opinion could stop wars but then again his scowl could easily be the reason for them to start. He would like to say it balanced each other out but... Sakusa scowled more often than he smiled... by far.Yet all jokes and nervousness aside, Atsumu couldn't help but smile back at him.
"So what is on your mind, love?"
The setter nervously scratched the back of his neck as he moved closer still keeping a safe distance. Sakusa commented his behaviour with a frown and put the book aside.
"Atsumu? What is it? Did something happen?""No!" He started but... "I mean... Yeah, kind of. I was just wondering... Omi, what would you do if I die?"
Sakusa's frown deepened and Atsumu could see him tense.
"Tsumu why are you asking me that?"He shrugged his shoulders, avoiding eye contact.
Sakusa pressed his lips together tightly into a thin line before answering.
"I don't know. And I don't want to think about it.""Sorry that I asked."
The ace took a shuddered breath, scanning him with a glare before getting up and leaving the room.
...
"Well, that was catastrophic..."
He was almost too embarrassed to share it with the group chat. Almost.
