I'm going to start my story by saying my home has a lot of clouds.

Naturally it does. If you live on top of the clouds, you're going to have lots of clouds. And plants. Plants are, like, support beams to hold the clouds in place so we can build things with the clouds.

That's why it's a good thing my mom is here. She can grow things and maintain plants up here--and everywhere else.

Enough beating around the bush. My name is Sky. Sky Water Nature. From my last name, you might be able to tell who my mom is.

That's right. My mom is MOTHER NATURE!!! Isn't that cool?

And here my story begins. Cue the music! Lights! Camera!

ACTION!!!

"SKY NATURE! IF YOU ARE EVER GOING TO INHERIT THIS WORLD, YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE TO LEARN TO GET OUT OF BED!!!"

I jerked awake. Doesn't that pesky housekeeper know to let a teenage girl get her beauty sleep? I mean, it's the weekend!

Still in sleep mode, I fell out of my bed of cirrus cloud blankets and cumulus cloud mattresses. I tripped on my way to the windowsill and tried to look graceful as I said "Good morning, world!"

Oh, I was EXHAUSTED. I slid down the window until my head was resting on the windowsill. With the pale blue morning sky and the slight breeze tickling my face, it would've been so easy just to slip into dreamland...

I think I fell asleep, because the next thing I knew, the housekeeper, Miss Crystal, was screaming again, shouting, "SKY NATURE, ARE YOU LISTENING TO ME?!?! HURRY UP, YOUR BREAKFAST IS GETTING COLD!!!"

Oh, she had me at breakfast. I caught a quick glimpse of the small courtyard--cloud pillars laced with ivy circling a stone sundial--and sprinted to the dining hall.

I raced through the palace-like home I shared with my mother. But just before I could enter the dining hall, I was stopped by none other than Miss Crystal. At least she wasn't screaming this time.

Miss Crystal put up a bold approach, but once you got to know her, you found she had a heart of gold. Philosophically, and literally. Miss Crystal was solid gold, head to toe, inside and out. She looked like an angel when the light shone off her golden complexion. She was lean, smart, and 32 years old. She had no hair, so she wore a bandana around her head. But the most intriguing thing about Miss Crystal was her eyes. She had sparkly, almost clear diamonds for eyes. Not clear enough to see her brain, but still clear. Her teeth were the same way. Talk about a smile that lights up the room!

Miss Crystal might sound weird to you, but up here in the clouds people and creatures like her are normal. They're... Not exactly human. Now that I think about it, my mother and I are the closest things to humans up in the clouds.

Anyway...

Miss Crystal looked me up and down, and frowned. "You're not going to breakfast like that, are you?" She closed her diamond eyes and shook her head disapprovingly.

"Good morning to you too," I sighed. I really didn't have time for her antics right then. Plus, I smelled blueberry pancakes coming from the dining hall, and nothing gets in between me and my morning dose of blueberry pancakes.

But before I could run in to the dining hall, Miss Crystal grabbed my wrist with her infamous golden grip, and dragged me in the opposite direction--to the washroom.

When we arrived at washroom, Miss Crystal let go of me and I glanced at my reflection in the pool of water there. (We don't have any mirrors up in the clouds.) My hair, summer-leaf green, cascading down to 2 1/2 inches past my shoulders, was in a tangled mess. My brown eyes looked tired. My tan face was smeared with saliva.

I definitely looked like I just woke up.

Miss Crystal didn't say a word, just got straight to brushing my hair until it shone. Then she told me to wash my face. I did that. And then she told me to pick out an outfit for the day. I chose a nice white blouse and an ankle-long green skirt that matched my hair. No shoes--no one wore shoes up in the clouds.

Finally, Miss Crystal declared I was okay enough to go and eat breakfast.

Brace yourself, blueberry pancakes--you're about to be devoured by none other than Sky Water Nature!!!

~Author's Note~

Hi everyone!

I included a picture if Sky's outfit, so you know what it looks like. No picture of Sky herself or Miss Crystal--you can imagine them yourself! ;)
(I described them well enough, didn't I?)

Well, that's about it for this chapter. I really hope you like the book so far! Bye!!! :)
