I didn't eat. I didn't sleep. Not even blueberry pancakes could make me smile.
All I could see was my mom's dying face.
After I regained consciousness the hospital, the doctors told me she was only in a coma. But how would you feel, if your mom was in a coma? And it didn't help that my mom was billions of years old. That's not an exaggeration.
And throughout every single second of it, I blamed the humans. If they didn't pollute the world like they did, my mom wouldn't be in a hospital bed right now. So it brought me painful joy when I heard of their suffering.
Without Mother Nature, who's going to care and maintain the earth? I didn't know exactly what was happening in the world, but I knew that it was havoc. But I didn't care. They brought this upon themselves.
I spent every waking moment with my mother. Sometimes she was awake to talk to me, other times she wasn't. But she was always very weak.
I guess I didn't spend every waking moment with her, because visiting hours did end and Miss Crystal would always drag me back to the palace at the end of the day.
That was when the argument started.
One night, after Miss Crystal dragged me back to the palace, Trina was there, waiting for me. She was excited and sad at the same time. I guess she heard about my mom's condition, because she said, in a mournful manner, "How's she doing?"
I looked away.
Trina walked over and put a hand on my shoulder. "Everything will be fine," she reassured me, but even I heard the masked doubt in her voice.
"How do you know?" I snapped at her. Trina backed away, saying, "Sorry, I'm sorry."
"No, don't be," I said with a sneer. "It isn't your fault that she's in a hospital right now. It isn't your fault she was so sick. It's the fault of the dirty humans." The last word I said with a hiss.
"Okay," Trina said, her eyes closing. "Look, Sky, not all humans are bad. They're trying to live, like you and I. And--"
"Whose side are you on, Trina?!" I nearly screeched. "I'm on all sides!" Trina shouted back.
"Sure, humans have polluted the world. But they're also fixing the world. In a way that your mother never will be able to!" Trina added, shouting.
"NO!!!" I said, screaming loud enough to wake up the dead. "NO ONE CAN FIX ANYTHING BECAUSE MY MOM IS ALMOST DEAD!!!"
After that, I got really angry. And when I got angry, my anger would turn into raw power. I was so angry, so mad at Trina, that I didn't care what happened to her--I just used all of my strength.
Gale force winds blew hard on Trina. Winds I created, and weren't taking back. Now, Trina looked afraid.
Afraid of me.
But I wasn't done. I created a plant growing right under Trina, and used all my power to shoot the plant up into the air, and knock Trina to the ground. The plan was executed perfectly, and Trina was left rubbing her behind wondering what just hit her.
I was so mad, however, that I couldn't let Trina go without one last attack on her. I mustered all the pieces of sediment that could be found, and created one massive rock with all the dirt that came together in my hands. And I threw it.
At Trina. At my best friend.
The rock hit its target. Trina was smashed into the wall, and the rock smashed to pieces around her. Trina was very soon buried in pieces of rock and wall dust.
Without skipping a beat, Trina emerged from the pile that was on top of her. She glared at me, her neon green eyes filled with fury.
"I was hoping my best friend could see reason," she said slowly, disappointed, "but I knew it. You are blinded by hate, Sky, and if you don't fix it, you could end up losing everything that was ever precious to you, starting with this friendship."
And she walked away, without a second glance.
I thought it would feel good, to take out my anger. It felt good after I took it out on my trainer.
But this emptiness, this black hole in my heart that seemed to suck out all the light in my life, did not feel good.
It felt sad. Not angry, just sad.
~Author's Note~
I am a very peace loving person. I don't know the components of a good argument. So if the argument in this chapter felt meaningless or empty, now you know the reason.
I don't think there are any pictures that truly go with this chapter, so I've included some quotes about arguments. Enjoy!
Don't think this story is losing traction just yet. In fact, I'm only getting started. I'm so evil. Muah ha ha!
Okay, well, bye!
