TWENTY YEARS LATER...

"Oh, your tie isn't straight! Here, let me just...There! Perfection."

"I hope this is the last time you say perfection, Sky.  I'm ready."

"I hope so.  I'm so proud of you."

"Thanks, Sky.  You've helped me so much."

"And you have achived so much Drew."

We were at Drew's apartment, almost ready to go to the church.  Drew looked much different than he had 20 years ago.  Brown hair had grown on his head, and no matter how many times I brushed it, it would always stick up.  So for today, I used almost a full bottle of hair spray and hair gel, praying it would stay in place for this special day.

Drew drove down to the church.  I expected him to be nervous, but he looked more happy than anything.  No nerves could defeat that smile.  I put my hand on his thigh and smiled.  "She's a good girl, Drew."

He looked into my eyes and said, "I know."

Time flew by, and we arrived at the church.  Before I knew it, Drew was standing at the front of the church, looking down the aisle, and that special organ music began to play.

Drew looked so handsome and proud, standing up there, smiling, waiting for Rose to come down the aisle and pledge to stay with him all the days of her life.

That's right.  My little Drew is getting married!

And there Rose was.  Her red/auburn hair was up in a tight bun, a little white rose protruding out of it.  She had freckles and beautiful blue eyes, and had said yes when Drew asked her if she would marry him.

I had talked to Rose many times since she and Drew started dating.  I knew she was the right one from the beginning.

Her white gown was flowly and soft, like rose petals.  It was white, but faded into a pink color as it went further down.  It had no sleeves, just thick straps around her shoulder.  I could see Drew's face when she walked up to him, and it was one of astonishment.

She got to the head of the church and she and Drew exchanged vows. Then Drew pulled her in for a kiss and I felt happy tears line my eyes.

The reception was filled with laughter, smiles and cake.  I might have eaten more cake than I should have, but I mean, come on.  When it's your adopted son's wedding, you can indulge.

I gave Rose a hug.  Her eyes were bright.

Mine were too.

THE END.
