after what had happened the day before, mei started ignoring xingiu. she was upset at xingqiu for not being completely honest with her. in her opinion, if he wanted to go shopping for books, mei didn't mind stopping at the bookstore after the date they were supposed to have. xingqiu didn't need to go as far as lying to her. even aether thought that the navy haired boy went too far.
the atmosphere was tense in the classroom. everytime xingqiu tried to approach the blonde haired gir, she either refuses or just leaves him hanging. xingqiu kept wondering what he did wrong, and even asked xiangling and chongyun about what he should do. mei hadn't told either of them about what happened, so the two best friends were still completely clueless, and kept encouraging xingqiu to try and approach her.
"maybe she's on her period, you know how moody she gets !"
"she's probably stressed about her grades, xingqiu. she'll come around.."
those were what xiangling and chongyun said to try and comfort xingqiu. he doesn't buy it though. there must be something going on. xingqiu knows this because one, if she was on her period, she would've told him and two, if she was stressed about her grades, she would've completely avoided everyone (seeing as that already happened once before). xingqiu frowned as he tried to think of ways why she would blatantly ignore him

"so, why are you ignoring your boyfriend ?"
mei, chongyun, xiangling, and aether were now at the library. after exam week finishes, there was usually one week where students still have to go to school because attendance still counts, but the teachers would be too busy accumulating and scoring all their scores to even go to class. most classes would be free period, and students could go home early after the attendance for the day is recapped.
since mei, chongyun, xiangling, and aether were bored, they decided to kill some time in the library until they can go home. they could lay down and sleep in the library since there were pillows and beanbags scattered everywhere across the room, making it a perfect place to wind down and relax.
mei hummed as she laid her head down on xiangling's lap, the latter patting her head slowly. "i was supposed to go on a date with him the other day, but he said he got sick and we had to cancel it. so i went to visit the mall and when i was in the bookstore, i saw him," she explained.
"it's true, i was there," aether nodded.
chongyun and xiangling looked at each other before the latter asked slowly, "you sure it was him ?. . ."
"at first i didn't wanna believe either, but yeah. it's him."
"mei. . ."
"it's fine. i'm fine. i could care less now," mei said.
"are you sure. . ?" chongyun asked.
"yeah. . i think i'm slowly losing feelings the more he keeps doing this. . ."
chongyun frowned. he was visibly disappointed and xingqiu for his actions, and everytime he tries to talk to the latter, it always ends with him dismissing chongyun away. the same goes for xiangling and chongyun. they were visibly upset at the navy haired boy, if not, more than mei.
"you know whatever happens, we'll always be right behind you, right. . .?" aether asks.
