two years later
"oi, mei!"
the blonde haired girl looked back to see a certain blonde haired male going after her. he put his hands on his knees after he successfully caught up with her. the girl's head tilted her confusion, her long hair rustled in the wind. aether took a minute before he finally caught his breath and smiled at her.
"thanks for waiting up on me!" he exclaimed while grinning. his long braided hair swayed in the wind, making mei envy of his hair and wanting to know his secret of his haircare.
"it's no problem, what's up?" she asked.
"just wanted to walk with my girlfriend," he offered her an hand. she smiled and took his hand in hers, intertwining them.
they walked around the school, savoring their last moments in school. it was graduation day after all, everyone would move on from high school to their own lives. some would go overseas, take a gap year to travel, start college or maybe directly descend into work. there were many possibilities of what might happen, and mei wanted to see their highschool one last time.
after all, she might not come back to visit.
the memories she made during highschool, the bad, the good, the heartbreaking, the joyful, she would cherish them all. it made her to what the person she's become. she wasn't afraid to make her own decisions, to speak her mind out, to be talking about her feelings. the experiences she made and the people she met along the way helped her become she person she is today. even xingqiu.
ah, xingqiu.
she remembered the day they confessed. it was clear as day in her mind. but she also remembered the lack of attention he gave, the attention she craved. she remembered how she used to dismiss her friends whenever she kept telling them she would be okay, when she wasn't. she felt lonely with xingqiu by her side.
xiangling and chongyun never left her side, and she was so grateful for them. of course, they didn't entirely abandon the navy haired bookworm, but they seemed to like mei more than xingqiu. not that she minded though, but she did tell them not to break off their friendship with xingqiu just because they broke up. she didn't want him to be lonely, so following her orders, the two friends still hung out with xingqiu.
she never regretted the day she broke up with him though. it took her another two years before she could completely get over xingqiu and start dating again. she never imagined she would get together with aether, but she realized how he was always there for her. and not long after realizing her feelings, she confessed and they started dating. and she made him happy, and vice versa.
as they walked through the hallways, they reminisce about highschool, not knowing a certain bookwarm was watching from afar with eyes filled with longing and regret.

wow, finally this book is finished after two-ish years!
i'm incredibly sorry it took this long, as i am vv busy as well at school (there isn't an empty day at my school i hate it so much i just want free time), so yeah. i figured if i tried forcing myself to finish when school was so hectic, i wouldn't be able to focus on writing. so i never really rushed myself if i couldn't write, i didn't want to put a strain on myself and didn't want to tire myself out.
i'm happy i didn't though, i was able to finish this book in the LAST day of 2023, and it makes my heart a little happy i didn't need to finish this book on 2024, and i can finish this book on a good note.
i'm also incredibly sorry if i'm bad at writing. i kinda suck not gonna lie, but i do want to get better, and that's why i'm writing on wattpad. so i can practice and get better! i'm proud of myself for finishing this though, it feels like a dream to be able to finish it!
thank you so much for all your support, and i will come back (someday, after hibernation probably) to plan a new book! i don't have any ideas right now, so if you guys would like to request a character i would be more than happy to write about them. but ONLY characters i know though, so that i wont get their mannerisms wrong and etc.
but alas, it is time to say goodbye to 𝐀𝐓𝐓𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍!
