This is just to remind you how easily a bunch of these kiddos could have avoided dying.  Here's Tyler's.  And even better, I'll write out the scenario.

Tyler Lawson had never felt so humiliated in his life.  Of course word had gotten out- why the hell had he thought it wouldn't?  This was Cyprus Park High, for crying out loud!  Gossip spread like spilled blood.  Sitting through the whole school day was more than enough torture for him.  His anger threatened to flare up at any slight provocation- whether it was his inability to read clearly during English or hearing the whispers in the hallways.  Everything was taunting him, trying to get him to snap.  But if he reacted, then he would be giving everyone the satisfaction of pissing him off.  So he took a deep breath and forced himself to remain unusually calm.  Which arguably might have been worse, because he was never calm.

"What's wrong, Lawson?  Did he put out your fire?"

Tyler took a deep breath, refusing to turn around. "I'm not going to do this right now, Jake."

He could hear his linebacker laugh in response. "Why?  You're always in the mood to argue."

"Not today," Tyler said, starting to continue down the hallway.  He had a class to get to and he wasn't going to let Jake Huntsman get in his way.

"Can't take a little secret getting out, huh?  I'm sure it will all blow over in time."

That was it.  He was running thin on patience already.  Tyler whirled around and shot him an icy glare. "We both know that it won't just 'blow over'!  Your god damn sorry excuse of a girlfriend thought it would be funny to ruin my reputation after you told her something I told you not to tell anyone!"

Jake simply shrugged. "It's high school, mate, gossip is the only thing keeping most of us going.  And hey, Sasha was just doing what she does best."

"I ought to break her god damn neck!" Tyler growled.

"You try that and I'll send a bullet through your head!"

The air prickled with hostility.  Tyler's knuckles turned white from his tightly-clenched fists, and he forced himself to stand there and remain calm.  But it was harder than he had anticipated when Jake was trying to get him to do the exact opposite.  He could feel other students crowding the hallways drawing closer.  He felt like a deer in a pack of wolves at that moment, a pack of wolves that wanted to prey on whatever he did next.

God, this was all his fault.  He never should've drank that much at that stupid party.  He should've never let his feelings drive him when he was alone in that bedroom with him.  And more importantly, he should have done more to keep Jake from spilling what he'd seen, because of course Jake would tell Sasha and Sasha would tell everyone.  Because of his stupid actions, he had destroyed his social life.  But why had he looked so beautiful in that moment?

Tyler's shoulders slumped. "Just tell Sasha that you made it up and things will be better for the both of us."

"But I wouldn't lie to my girlfriend," Jake said, a smirk playing at his lips.  He was enjoying seeing his football team captain like this.

"I'm going to give you one.  Last.  Chance," Tyler warned. "Tell her you lied."

Jake just shook his head. "I'm afraid I couldn't-"

But whatever he was about to say was cut off by the swift blow to his jaw from a very pissed Tyler, and then the fight broke out.  All Tyler remembered was winding up in the infirmary, getting his swollen left eye bandaged up, and then sitting in detention.  Jake was in some other detention classroom somewhere, but Tyler was certain that Sasha would dump him after seeing how hideous his face looked now.  Tyler had made sure that Jake regretted it.

He glanced around the detention room, and the first person he saw was Sasha Richardson herself.  Of course.

"What the hell are you looking at?" he snarled when she looked in his direction.

After looking away from that sorry b*tch, he let himself look around with his one good eye and froze.  Sitting across the classroom was him.  Not wanting to stare, Tyler looked away and waited for the teacher to arrive.

Next thing he knew, he was fighting for his life.
