"Daddy"
"Daddy?"I call twice.

My eyebrows furrow, "Daddy?!" I shout again.
"Mi Amora?" He responds, I smile.

That smile soon falls seeing him enter the house with his friends. He seemingly catches wind of my expression and furrows his eyebrows.

"What's wrong Amora?" He refers to me as my middle name.

"I thought you were coming with me, I've been waiting on you"  I can't even hide my disappointment, he said he would make time today..

He checks his watch, "Give me 10 minutes hun, Im right behind you." I nod running my hands over my lululemon tights.

My eyes wander to the men he's speaking with noting some of the faces as members of parliament and some men who are just rich.

I don't know their title and I honestly don't care.
Them people ya nuh contribute nothing to my life!

I swear I'll never get the social hierarchy I was born into, we're all just people. Why the hell should I kiss your ass because your last name is fancy?

Stepping into one of the downstairs bathrooms to check myself I run my hand through my sleeked ponytail smiling at my reflection.

The bruises have gone down on my skin.
The ones on my heart have not.

I push it away at the sound of daddies voice.

Exiting the bathroom after washing my hands I meet him at the door of his Porsche.

I smile feeling happy that we're finally leaving the house together not in an Escalade.

I like feeling normal with him, the constant attention and security drives me crazy.

"Weh mommy?" I ask, he smiles.
"You mada deh ova you granny, two a them a plan some brunch." I giggle.

"Them always a plan some event, and Abuela she nah seh no to mommy enuh." I shake my head thinking of my mother and grandmothers antics.

They LOVE planning events whether weddings, birthdays or simple get togethers , wonder what this brunch will be for.

I'm sure I heard her speak about it before but I'm not even sure, anyways.

"Dad you think I should start self defense classes?" I ask him, he pauses for a moment before nodding.

"That would be a great idea, there's a program at the gym. We can check it out after our workout session this morning hun."

After what happened in Cancun, I never want to be left to feel that defenseless again. I want to at least be able to defend myself if push comes to shove.
