THE HOUSE WAS BURSTING with music. Though not as many people as I anticipated would show up did, I was still very much satisfied.
From how packed and crowded the place was, I wasn't sure how'd I get them to quiet down and pop out in surprise when Cole walked in.
"I can't believe we actually pulled it off, this party is amazing. He'll love it." Melanie gulped down her last sip — she had substituted her alcohol for fruit punch considering she woke up every 6 am morning for cheerleading practices and couldn't bear a hangover.
"You think? I really hope he does. His 18th is all he ever talks about. I just want it to meet his expectations."
"Yeah.. I'm sure his present from you also will."
I glanced at her mildly confused, but shrugged it off since she no longer was focused on that topic.
People were coming in and out by the second as I watched the time like a hawk; He'd be here within 10 minutes, coming back from his birthday dinner with his parents.
The party was at one of my father's residencies, I told Cole that it'd be a small get-together, little did he know it was practically the whole school here.
A knock on the door had come and within an instant, I told the DJ to turn everything down and for everyone to be quiet. The lights flicked off as the knob turned.
Once the door swung open, everyone hopped out with a loud 'Happy Birthday!', some less enthusiastic than others but still. The light had turned on and as I came to him with a hug almost as fast as I tripped when I paused in my steps.
"Well, this a nice welcoming." A smear and smug look upon Myle's face while I had the absolute opposite, disappointment drawn all over it.
My eyes had betrayed me, my surprise for Cole ruined all for this asshole. "That wasn't meant for you, and who the hell knocks on the door at a party?"
"The kind who has manners. Wasn't sure if this was a slumber party from how quiet it sounded."
The music had resumed as well as the crowd talking. "Real funny, but we're very much.. loud and having an amazing time."
He nodded, "I'm sure you guys are."
I was close to jabbing him in the abdomen but held back. "Enough of your jokes, where's the beer? Y'know, the one you told me very specifically you'd bring?"
"Is that how low you think of me, to come to a 'slumber' party bear no gifts? C'mon, you know me better than that."
"No, I don't actually." As I spoke, two guys appeared from outside, each carrying a keg. One with blonde hair and the face of a model, the other with jet black hair and light freckles splattered all over his face.
His lips turned up, his friends standing alongside him as they analyzed me. "Who's this?"
"I'm pretty sure it's the one who invited him, you dumbass. Use your head." Freckles said.
"Is this also the girl you said who gave you that bruise?" The blonde one had pointed out, nudging Myles.
I hadn't noticed that the bruise I gave him had still been there, I hardly noticed there was one at first when the event occurred — likely because of the dim light.
"Where should we set these kegs down, Ms..?"
"You can call me Ivy. And you just set it down in the kitchen, right past the bar."
I heard their small whispers between each other as they passed: "Right let's just find it in this maze of a house."
My eyes averted back to Myles. "Your friends are.. they're something."
