"Miranda wait, wait. You can't just leave." Ben yelled catching up to her as she jogged out of the house.
"Yes, I can. I'm not going to sit there and be talked to like that. I expected him to be a little disappointed, but that was far worse. The things he said... I'm not...no." She yelled tears running down her face.
"I know, but he's still your dad. He's just upset at our actions."
"You don't think we are upset with our own actions. We didn't plan this, we didn't mean for this to happen either, but it's my baby, and I'm going to have it, love it, and raise it despite everything. We know that it is going to be hard, but he didn't have to say any of those awful things or treat us like that." She hiccuped, now crying into his chest. Ben rubbed her back up and down. "He's my dad and I just expected better."
"I know. My dad gave us the same reaction. I think they just need to calm down and then we will talk again."
"I'm not doing that until he apologizes to us. He can choose to be here for me or not. I'm not forcing him to do anything and I don't need his help. He thinks we are going to need him, but we will do this on our own. Go back in there and get my purse" She huffed getting in his car. "Oh and in my room, there's a white and black box on the top shelf grab that as well."
"Anything else baby?"
"No that's it."
Ben nodded his head and blew out a breath. He dreaded going back inside. Stepping on the porch he could hear the two older adults fussing with each other. Most likely Mrs. Elena was pissed at her husband's reaction.
Knocking on the door, he waited until someone came.
"Hey, where's Miranda," Elena questioned looking at Ben. He could see that her eyes held unshed tears.
"Uh, she's in the car. I just wanted to come back and get her purse. She also wants a black and white box off the top shelf in her closet."
"Ok, I'll get it, come in." She gestured.
Ben nodded and walked inside standing by the door. He watched her walk away before he looked over at Mr. Bailey and sighed.
"Sir. I know that we are young and we were irresponsible, but I love your daughter and I have asked her to marry me. She is going to be my wife and I will take care of her and our baby. We are not putting our dreams of becoming doctors on hold. We know that it will be challenging and will some days feel impossible, but I know that it is not. Your daughter is right now crying her eyes out in the car and I know that she could use some reassurance from you. All her life she was a daddy's girl and this is breaking her heart."
"Well, she broke mine too." He responded stubbornly with bitterness laced in his voice.
"Alrighty then," Ben said firmly, shifting his eyes to Elena who walked into the room.
"Here you go. Can you tell Miranda to call me?" She questioned.
"Yes ma'am. Have a good day."
"Uh, you too."
Ben walked back to the car and saw Miranda leaning her head against the window. She still had tears in her eyes and was sniffling.
"Your mom wants you to call her."
"Ok. I will." She responded wiping her face.
"Miranda I'm sorry," Ben said sadly.
"You have nothing to apologize for. I love you. I love you so much."
"I love you too. Do you want to drive back to Boston or just get a room tonight?"
"A room. I just want to be with you. Not cooped up in my door room or yours."
