His head aches with every breath he takes, his vision slowly becomes clear. Jason's worried face in his view, he sits up and ignores the gravel that dug into his hands while he was- what? sleeping?
"Ivar?" Jason whispers, he reaches his hand out but retracts it after a moment of thought.
Time moves slowly as Ivar processes where he is and who he's with. "Where are we?"
Jason takes a breath and scratches his throat. "We're in an alley"
"You're kidding"
Jason shakes his head, his expression serious. "No, I'm not. I dragged you all the way here when you collapsed, you're really heavy, you know that?"
Ivar rubs his forehead as a headache pounds against his forehead. "I don't remember anything. Why would I collapse? Also, that's insanely rude"
Jason shrugs and stands up, he brushes his pants off. "You started screaming, it was kinda awkward when people started staring" Jason pauses for a moment as if the screaming wasn't the bad part but people staring is what mattered. "Though nobody came to help, I guess that's Gotham for ya'"
"Great-..." Ivar rakes his fingers through his hair and takes a shakey breath as he remembers the haunting figure and what it kept whispering in his ears. "My powers were acting up, probably the reason why I collapsed"
Jason raises an eyebrow, concern etched on his face. "Your powers? What do you mean?"
"You know-" Ivar groans slightly as his head pounds. "Threat detection- sometimes it gives me visions, I call it sixth sense but lately, they've been getting stronger, more intense. It's like they're trying to overwhelm me."
The entire alley stills for a moment as if Ivar confessed something that he was not allowed to, everything seemingly closes in on him, reaching for him until Jason speaks up again.
"They?"
Ivar breathes heavily, feeling something reaching out for him. "Nothing- nevermind"
"You can trust me" Jason smiles softly, a hint of urgency in his voice.
Ivar falters at the four simple words, does Jason even understand how heavy those words can be? Slowly he closes his eyes. "It's like someone was trying to communicate with me through the visions, but it was too much to handle. It felt like my mind was being torn apart, like they were trying to claw their way through me"
( Through me, to you )
"Has this person tried talking to you through visions before?" Jason reaches his hands out to help his friend up.
"Not really," Ivar thinks back to the beginning of the day and grabs Jason's hand. "They usually just whisper in my ear to warn me of future events, they never try to contact me outright"
Jason helps pull Ivar up with a huff, the bag of groceries lay dejected to the side as they linger in each other's touch. Maybe this is what Jason sought out, the touch of someone he could fully trust.
Ivar pulls away quickly after a moment of realization and brushes his hair out of his face.
"Well, this time it seems like they were trying to reach out to you more directly," Jason voices, concern etched on his face and hurt in his tone. "Who are they? Do you know?"
Ivar shakes his head. "No, now come on we should head back to the manor"
( Did he know? Was he just pretending that he didn't? )
