Journey
nounan act of travelling from one place to another.
Third person's pov:
"Meera, wake up or else you'll be late for the orientation" she heard her mom shout from the living room. "Ughh" she groaned opening her eyes only to close them tightly due to the blinding light of the sun rays in her room. Rolling on to her left side she hit the snooze button of her alarm and dozed off again.
"Ohh God! This girl slept again!" Her mother exclaimed as she went to her room. She ripped off Meera's warm comforter to which she curled up into a ball and left a strangled groan. " Wake up Meera it's already 7:30". As soon as Meera heard the time, all of the sleepiness left her system and she was wide awake sitting on her bed. After a deafening pause she sprinted to her closet, taking the clothes she would be wearing for that day, she dashed to the washroom.
After taking a quick shower and doing her skincare routine, she took her backpack and ran downstairs for breakfast. "Good morning dad!" She wished him as she sat down to eat, more like scarf down the food placed in front of her when her mother said, "slow down Meera!! You are going to choke." Her mother said shaking her head. Meera sheepishly smiled at her mother and started eating at a slow pace. Her dad chuckled seeing the interaction.
"Okay if you are done with breakfast we can hit the road" her dad said coming Outta the kitchen after placing the dirty dish in the sink. Meera and her mother took some of her bags out while her dad took the other luggage. Meera's dad started the car after they put all the suitcases in the trunk.
Around 10'o clock, they stopped at a gas station to fill up the tank and bought some snacks to munch on. They resumed their journey again. Throughout the car ride, Meera sang along with the old songs that played on the radio with her parents. When they were near the destination, Meera texted her best friend telling her that she had arrived.
Meera opened the car door and got out. She took a deep breath and looked up. There it read the name of her dream college. She smiled slightly feeling proud of herself for getting into it."let's go inside, shall we?" Her dad asked her and she nodded her head as she hooked her hand in her mom's and they went inside.
She could see a lot of trees on her way and Meera felt peaceful. As they neared the auditorium she could see a lot of first years. Some standing with their parents and some already in groups. She could feel herself becoming anxious but she calmed down by breathing in and out.
Meera asked her parents to go in and find seats for her and her best friend's family. Soon she spotted her best friend in the crowd and she started waving her hands up in the air. "Aarushiii!! Here" she excitedly called her best friend who looked at her with equal excitement. They both met each other halfway and hugged each other. They almost kissed the ground but Aarushi's dad balanced them at the right moment.
"Oh my god! It's been soooo long!!" Aarushi said after the two broke their hug. "I know right" Meera agreed with her. It's not like they didn't meet each other once a week for the past two months. Meera ushered them to get inside as the auditorium was getting full. They reached where Meera's parents were seated and sat down in their seats.
The principal spoke about the college and all the boring stuff and how the students should behave inside the campus, how much discipline is valued in the college. Meera and Aarushi listened to the principal talk and when Aarushi nudged her, she looked at her to only see her looking at the stage. Meera followed her best friend's line of vision and felt her breath hitch. On the stage, she sees a bunch of seniors speaking and one with a white shirt and black pants caught her attention. She felt entranced by him. When he started talking, she got to know that his name was dhruv and that he was a final year business student. Sensing someone's eyes on him, Dhruv turned in her direction. Meera quickly looked down the moment their eyes locked in order to not get caught blatantly checking him out. Oh my god. Meera was so embarrassed and she was sure as hell he had a tiny smirk which means he saw her staring at him. She eyed him in her peripheral vision and saw that he was not on the stage. She released a breath she didn't realise she was holding in. That was close!
