After bidding Dhruv a goodbye, Meera was on her way to her room while she finally took a moment to fully grasp on the events that happened a few minutes ago. She had salsa danced with Dhruv. He taught her his favourite moves. She felt like she was inside a bubble for those few minutes they danced. It felt so peaceful, so magical. She had a stupid smile on her face the whole time. She was glad she could have a glimpse of Dhruv being like that and it was oddly intimate for her.
She went to her room to see Aarushi reading a book. Aarushi looked up from her book and instantly jumped down from bed and started firing questions at Meera. "Oh my god! Where were you? Are you all right? Why haven't you been answering my calls? Yuktha said the rehearsals ended long back. And why di-oomph" Aarushi's words were cut of by Meera as she placed her palm over her mouth.
"Take a breath aaru, I'm sorry i didn't pick up your calls, my phone died. And I was helping out Dhruv with the decorations and all. That's all. I'm here now!" Meera said plopping onto her bed with a huge sigh. "Alright I'm glad you are safe though. And dhruv huh?" Aarushi asked with a smirk on her face.
"Oh you know just helping him out with stuff." Meera said shrugging her shoulders without looking at Aarushi. There was no answer form her so she looked up to see Aarushi looking at her with a 'i know that's not the only thing happened so you better spill ' face. Meera gave in and said, "okay! We were talking and somehow ended up salsa dancing" in a muffled voice as her hands were covering her face.
"You did what!? Holy banana pants! You guys danced? That's too darn cute babe. I didn't know Dhruv knew Salsa dancing though" Aarushi said as she hopped on Meera's bed, snuggling to her side. "Apparently he does. And boy was he good at it! It was so nice aaru. He was a little bit different than how he is in college. He was so gentle with me even when I was stepping on his toes for the first few minutes " she said chuckling.
Aarushi looked at her with a smile on her face that Meera couldn't quite understand what for. "What?" She asked with furrowed eyebrows. Aarushi just shook her head and went to her own bed. "Nothing. Absolutely nothing. So are you ready for tomorrow?" "Uh yeah excited kinda nervous too i guess" said Meera after exhaling a large amount of air. Aarushi just shot a reassuring smile in her direction and went to sleep after turning off the bedside lamp.Meera went to sleep with slight flutters in her stomach thinking about tomorrow.
Time skip the next day evening,
Meera and her friends came to their room after their classes to get ready for the freshers day. Meera changed into a short white kurti along with dark blue baggy jeans and she styled it with oxidised jewellery. She did her hair and some light make up on yuktha's insistence. The girls clicked some pictures with Aarushi's Polaroid camera and stuck it on the wall decorated with fairy lights and leaf vines.
When the auditorium came into her view, she could feel the excitement bubbling inside her. It was buzzing with energy. All the girls quickly went and marked their name in the attendance list and met sunny in the backstage. They were asked to sit in the front row along with other participants.
The program started after the chief guest came. All the performances got loud cheers and a guy made all the students dance to the hook step of a popular song. The crowd became a boisterous mob when yuktha sang 'you belong with me' by taylor swift. Meera and aarushi cheered for her. She was reminded of Dhruv for a split second but she quickly for got about him as the next participant came to stage.
Meera and aarushi were called back stage as their performance was next. They were going to dance. It was going to be like a dance battle between english songs and Desi songs. As they were about to get on the stage, Meera looked back once and saw dhruv sending her a smile and mouthed the words 'good luck' to her. She sent a smile back and went to the stage.
They took their positions as the crowd got quiet with the anticipation. 'greedy' by tate Mcrae started playing as aarushi meticulously danced to every single beat. When that song came to a pause, the song 'chammak challo' started playing and Meera was doing her magic. The crowd stared to sing the songs along with them. After a few songs, it was Meera's turn to dance and this time the song was 'radha' from student of the year. The crowd cheered more for the song and when the chorus part was about to come, the computer sort of malfunctioned, cutting off the song while Meera was mid-step.
Meera turned to her right and saw dhruv rushing to the back stage. The crowd stared murmuring. Meera looked at Aarushi and shot a smile. She then went a little forward on the stage and started singing the lyrics by herself.

As Meera started singing, the audience joined her by singing and clapping their hands rhythmically. Meera danced the famous hook step gracefully and when the song came to an end, 'hips don't lie' by Shakira started playing on the speakers. For this song, both Meera and Aarushi danced together as their performance was coming to an end. The crowd went wild when the hit their ending pose. They did a little bow and exited the stage. Meera and Aarushi were smiling so hard that their cheeks hurt. They went backstage and hugged eachother tightly, letting out little squeals of happiness. Dhruv was coming towards them and was caught off guard when Meera hugged him after seeing him.
"you were amazing up there." Dhruv said hugging her back. "Thank you kind sir" Meera said trying to imitate a British accent but terribly failing to do so which cracked all the three of them. They were all talking with each other along with veer who joined them as the performances were almost going to end.
"Hey Meera? We are gonna have an after party. And I was wondering if you'd wanna come." Dhruv said scratching his neck. "you can also bring a plus one." He added. Before Meera could say anything, aarushi was quick to butt in. "Sure! We'll be there." She said with a very sweet smile on her face. Meera just looked Aarushi like 'we are going? Oh okay' and just shrugged her shoulders. Dhruv just nodded his head at them and went back.
"Ugh i can't wait to dress up!!!!" Meera said cheerfully. Linking her hands with Aarushi's she dragged her to sit with their roommates who congratulated them for not losing their cool when the song glitched.
The event came to an end and all the students went back to their rooms. Sunny came and reminded Meera about the theme for the after-party. It was bollywood retro. She also said 'be a little extra babe' and winked at her as she walked away.
