Forelsket

the euphoric feeling of being in love and the sense of butterflies in the stomach and the overwhelming joy

All the performances got over and Meera was helping prisha a senior from the board with sorting the list out. While she was writing the names in a decorated paper, she heard prisha let out a sigh and looked up. She followed prisha's line of vision and saw Dhruv holding one end of the screen. He was standing on his tip toes so the material of his shirt stretched revealing his muscles that flexed.

"God he is so fine" prisha said looking at him with a dreamy look on her face. Meera didn't like the fact prisha was outright ogling at dhruv. She didn't know what she was feeling but it did not feel good at all. She just furrowed her eyebrows and went back to writing the names.

"Would you date him?" She heard prisha ask no one in general so she had to look up and point her finger towards herself to make sure she was being questioned, to which prisha nodded her head as she popped a gum into her mouth. Meera was flabbergasted. Sure she was attracted to him and she thought he was hot but she doesn't know if she would actually date him. "I-I- uh don't know? Uhm maybe?" She stuttered and looked at the ground. Prisha laughed slightly and shook her head.

There was an awkward silence between them which was thankfully broken by sunny. "Hey Meera come with me for a moment" she said and dragged her to backstage. And motioned prisha to come over as well. She saw Dhruv standing there as well. Since the place was almost empty except for a few students, the only source of air they had was from the opened windows.

The air was kind of warmer. Meera started to fan herself with her hands. She made the mistake of looking over at Dhruv and she could feel her cheeks getting warmer. When dhruv looked at her, he winked. It was so subtle. But Meera caught it. She widened her eyes and turned around quickly almost knocking over a few binders that were kept on the table and flushed even more causing prisha to ask whether she was alright. Meera looked like a deer caught in headlights and just shook her head.

"So guys! The rehearsals went well and everything is sorted out. Let's take rest and make sure everything is organised tomorrow and also don't forget about the dress code. And yeah let's do this!!" Sunny said clapping her hands. "Dhruv? Can you please take care of the backdrop? You just have to hang the screen. Also kindly help Meera out with placing the decorative things on the backdrop." She said as she went through her notepad one last time before she bid him goodbye and went to see Meera.

He could see both the girls talking and Meera nodded at something Sunny said. He could also see her blushing which earned a giggle from sunny. When Meera reached Dhruv, she didn't look at him in the eye she just took her stuff and started walking towards the the stage. She suddenly stopped as if she realised something. She needed Dhruv to help her. Since the screen is quite long and well Meera is not even 5'5 for crying out loud.

Meera slowly turned around and sheepishly looked at him. He had a smug smirk on his s face and just grabbed the screen and walked past Meera. The college auditorium stood silent and empty, a stark contrast to the bustling activity it usually hosted. Dhruv and Meera found themselves alone in the vast space, the echo of their footsteps resonating through the dimly lit hall.

As Dhruv and Meera worked side by side, hanging screens on the backdrop for the Freshers' Day party, Meera remembered the subtle wink he gave her. She contemplated on confronting him but decided against it. She saw Dhruv slow marching towards her holding the banner she painted like a flag. She just raised her eyebrows at him.

Dhruv, feigning innocence, grinned and continued attaching the screens. "You know, Meera, I've always wondered if hanging these screens is an art form in itself," he said, his tone light-hearted.
