The next 21 nights were filled with tears, alcohol and gut-wrenching loneliness. For the past 2 years, everything had been about Elliot, from how Alia dressed to how she acted. She had built her life and worth around him.
"Dr Taylor Allison Swift would describe you as a pathological people pleaser" Fern mumbled from the couch, over the movie and pouring rain. She had been sleeping over at Alia's occasionally to help her cope with everything. Today they were watching Clueless and baking cookies. Well, Alia was baking cookies and Fern was just watching Clueless.
"What?" Alia replied from the kitchen, trying to figure out what the fuck Fern meant, they had been almost silent for the past 30 minutes, what was she on about? "In 'Hits Different'" Fern clarified, as she sat up from the couch to look at Alia. "I still don't know what you mean" Alia said, "You know, pathological people pleaser" Fern tried to sing the lyrics to the song. "How's that relevant to 'Clueless'?" Alia asks, "It's not, but it's relevant to you" Fern walked over to the kitchen island to sit on the stool. "That's so random" Alia laughed, as Fern stole a giant piece of cookie dough and shoved it into her mouth.
"You should listen to All Too Well and Dear John" Fern said taking a sip from her wine glass, "Elliot has a lot in common with Jake Gyllenhaal and John Mayer" she added. "Stop eating the dough there won't be enough for cookies" Alia whined as she saw her friend grab another chunk of dough, "I'm not" Fern mumbled with her mouth full of dough and a smile to which Alia rolled her eyes.
Fern is like a sister to Alia, although sometimes she can't figure out who's the younger one and who's the older one. It had always been this way since they met 6 years ago in high school. Fern was the crazy Taylor Swift fan, the extravert, the golden retriever that everyone loved, the straight-A student, and the soon-to-be college graduate. And Alia was the opposite, the rock music lover, the introvert, the black cat that everyone stays clear of, the one who barely passed high school, the college dropout. They were each other's yin and yang.
Alia's phone vibrates.

"Fern you're sitting literal meters away" Alia says, "Noo, text me" Fern says, Alia laughs but complies.

"Yay" Fern cheers. She has a way of persuading people, especially when those people are Alia. So Alia turned the oven off, after all, there wasn't much to bake since Fern had eaten more than half of all the dough, and they drove to the gas station.
"I'm gonna get these, and this, oh and these" Alia says grabbing as many chip and candy packets as her arms can hold, "You're also gonna get diabetes" Alia says looking at her, she's like a child, god she loves her. She makes direct eye contact with her as she reaches out for another packet of Sour Patch Kids Watermelon, because in her words 'they are the only acceptable flavor'. Once they reach the counter Fern pays for it all, and they are once more back in the car. Driving in the pouring rain,may not be the safest condition to be driving in.
"Stop the car" Fern demands, "What why?" Alia says as she slowly stops the car. It's completely dark outside, except for the single light post that they are parked under. Fern opens the door and starts dancing, to the illicit affairs that were playing loudly from inside the car. After some persuading she pulls Alia out of the car, as she screams the chorus, this is one of the few Taylor songs Alia knows, and she screams along with her. They scream the lyrics to Haunted before they're both shivering and laughing. "My car is all wet now" Alia says laughing as the 2 of them sit on old beach towels that happened to be in the trunk.

in another world fern and alia are together <3
i completely forgot that this book existed (i last updated in fucking january and its now april) and so much has changed like wilbur soot is an abuser, taylor swift has a new album and probably more things
but i started reading real books and finished if he had been with me which fucked me up for 2 days straight
also i hate the name 'alia' for the main character cause i feel like it doesn't fit her but i can't be fucked changing it and apologies for any mistakes
