I'm walking towards the nurses office and the nurse wasn't there. So I put my back pack on the floor and sat on a chair.
I waited and waited, I look down at my feet and I see a couple of drops of blood. I look around and I find some wipes, I don't want my shoes to be dirty so I grabbed the wipes, I bent down and started cleaning my shoes. I heard voices coming from the end of the hall, I walked towards the end of the hall and there was a red door. I got close to the door and I put my ear against it so I could hear what they were saying.
"What did your mom say?" Sounds like the nurse.
"That she'll pick me up in a bit." A guy says.
"Ok well I'll want you here, I don't want you out in class when you just fainted a couple of minutes ago." The nurse sounds so worried.
"Okay." Sounds like he could care less.
"I'll be right back, I'm gonna get you an ice pack for that head of yours." I heard her foot steps getting closer.Oh shit. Shit. Shit. I ran to my seat, I slipped and I got up really quick and took a seat. I hear the door opening, I try to keep my breath steady. I hear footsteps, she's coming. I look down at my feet.
"Oh, hi honey. How can I help you?"
I look up.
"My goodness, are you okay?" She looks at me with a worried face.
Look at my face, do I look "okay" to you?
"Yea, I'm fine. Can I just get a band aid?"
"A band aid, hun. You need more than just a band aid. Come here." I walked towards her, she grabbed an ice pack and said, "Come with me."I nodded my head and she leaded me to the red door.
She opened the door and there was this guy, he has really bad acne on his cheeks and he has some scars. He looks Mexican, I'll guarantee you that. He was wearing a cardigan, a pair of joggers, and he had converse on.
"James this is um... what's your name honey?" She gives James the ice pack and turns her head to look at me.
"Caroline." I look at James.
"Yes. James meet Caroline and Caroline meet James."
I walk towards him and I put my hand out to shake his hand. As I put my hands around his hand, he gave me a tight squeeze.
"Nice to meet you Caroline." He shakes my hand and he gives me a long stare. It made me feel awkward so I let go and looked down.
"Well alright, let me wrap your hand and then I'll help you with your cheek." She reached in a cabinet and grabbed an alcohol bottle and said, "it's gonna sting, ok?" I nodded.
She then poured alcohol on a cotton ball and dabbed it on my hand. It hurt just a little, then she grabbed a roll that looks like some type of cloth. She started to wrap it around my hand, and put a little piece of metal to keep it in place and for it not to unwrap.
She walks out the room,"Don't worry I'll be right back." I nod. After she left it got quiet, like the awkward silence.
"Are you a freshmen?" He asks.
"Depends on who wants to know." I'm not really comfortable talking to him.
"I'm a senior, just for your information. F-Y-I." He gets up and grabs a lollipop from a cabinet,"Want one?"
"Yea." I shrug.
"What flavor?" He looks down at the cabinet.
"Um, what flavors are there?" I'm hoping for strawberry. He puts his hand in the cabinet and starts moving the lollipops around, "Hmm, there's grape, green apple, cherry, watermelon, lime, and root beer."
"Root beer?" I've never really tried root beer.
"I know right? Kind of weird to have root beer lollipops in the nurses room."
I giggle,"Yea," I pause and think,"I guess I'll have watermelon."
