I was walking towards my English class and the security stopped me, "Excuse me, but where do you think you're going?"
Where do you think?
"My English class." Duh.
"Why are you so late?"
"Cause I was at the nurses office." I put my hand up to show my bandage and I put a smile on my face.
"Ok, well get to class." He walked towards the stairs.
"That's what I was doing." I say under my breath.

I walk to my class and I opened the door. Everyone looked at me, it's so odd how everyone at first doesn't notice me like if I didn't exist and then they pay attention to me at the worst moment.

For example in the beginning of the year I started the week with my period. Yup, it was that time of the month. Well one day people were acting weird around me, and people seemed pretty spaced out. I wasn't sure what was wrong, until the end of the day.

A random short girl comes up to me and says, "Can I um... talk to you privately?"
"Yea, sure." She leaded me to the bathroom and she looked around to see if there was any one around.
"Listen, um...you have a stain on the back of your pants."
"What? How, ugh. Of course this would only happen to me."
"Hey, at least it's the end of the day!" She smiled.
How is that suppose to make me feel better when probably the whole school seen me with the stain on my pants?
"Okay, well good luck with your problem." She walked out the bathroom.
Well thanks for that, and now what do I do? Holy shit this is embarrassing.

Okay I'll just change my pad and I'll cover the stain on my pants by wrapping my sweater on my waist. I went into the stall and I was checking the stain, I looked at it very closely and it wasn't blood. It was red ink, part of me was reliefed but still upset.

Who the fuck would do something like that? Then I thought to myself, " Freshmen pranks?" What a cruel fucking joke.

After that day Chelsey decided to start calling me "Bloody Caroline", and after a while people just forgot about me.

••••~••••

I sat in English class listening to the teacher talk about mythology. I expected English classes to make us work more on essays about books that we get to read in class, not worksheets about mythology. It's boring and uninteresting, and I don't have a choice but to do my work. I have one main goal and it's to get good grades, mostly reaching for the highest grade I could get.

The only reason I do this is because I want a good future for myself and also because I don't want to look stupid, but that's not important. What's more important is to make my parents proud.

Thank god the bell rang.
I waited for everybody in the class to leave so I could talk to my teacher, Mrs.Grace.
"Hey Mrs.Grace." She was sitting down at her desk looking at her computer.
"How may I assist you Caroline?" She looked up at me.
I handed the nurses note to Mrs.Grace.
She puts on her glasses reading the note closely, "Is this the reason why you were late to my class?" She puts the note down.
"Yes, Mrs.Grace." I look down and I started walking out.
"Caroline you know if there's something bothering you, you can just come and talk to me."
"Yea, thanks Mrs.Grace." I walk out the room.

I hate telling other people how I feel, because they're going to have the need to help me and I don't want that. Either way I don't want to snitch on the girls who decided to block my way out of the girls locker room, because I don't want any more problems then the ones I've been having lately.

As I made my way to piano class I saw Principal Williams. He sometimes stands outside of his office and greets students. Nobody likes Principal Williams, I don't understand why.

"Hello." I hear a deep voice.
Please don't be Principal Williams, I thought to myself.
I turned around and it's Rick, well that doesn't make things any better.
I turned back around and kept walking towards my class.
"Hey, c'mon ... hold up!" He shouts loud enough for me to hear across the hall.
"Im gonna be late for class!" Even though it doesn't matter.

I went up the stairs that took me to the music classes. I looked for class 312 and there was my teacher, Mrs.Brown. She is the most sweetest teacher I've ever had.

"Good Morning," Mrs.Brown looked towards me from her desk, "so are you ready to play Ode to Joy?"
"Um, not yet I just have to practice on the eighth notes." I walked towards my seat.
"Okay well, whenever your ready." She looked back at her computer.

I walked to my seat that's all the way in the back by the window. The piano that is in front of me is a YAMAHA, and the piano is connected to a Mac computer. A lot of technology involved in which I love so much, but when I play piano I'd rather play on a grand piano. I'm in the wrong class, the grand pianos are right next door.

"Class you can either have headphones on or off if you'd like...alright class let's begin with the c major scale." She plays the c major scale for us to follow. About the headphone thing, Mrs.Brown would let us wear them for us to hear ourselves playing the piano and not listening to everyone else playing the piano on their speakers.

The class goes on and on playing chords and songs from our piano book.
It's all the same thing every day, the only thing that changes is sometimes we get to practice and play our own songs. The song that I chose to practice and play is Not About Angels by Birdy.

Mrs.Brown finds the music sheets for the students that only have good grades, if the students have lower grades they can only choose the songs from the piano book or from a list she arranged. Most of the songs Mrs.Brown put on the list were kind of difficult to play but she also had a couple of easy songs.

"Excuse me." Someone had just knocked on the door.
"Yes?" Mrs.Brown replied.
"Can I see Caroline Riff?" Everyone turned to look at me.
Who wants to see me? I looked up from my piano and it was Rick, how the hell...
"What for?" She looked at him.
Please have a bad excuse.
"The attendance office needs to see her."
Lies.
"Do you have a note?"
Ha, try and get out of this one Rick.
"Um, yea." He takes out a note from his back pocket.
Mrs.Brown skims through the note and hands it back to Rick.
She looks over to me, "Caroline, they need you down at the attendance office."
"Okay." I grabbed my headphones and put them in my back pack, I stood up and walked out with Rick.

As we were walking down the stairs I stopped, "Does the attendance office really need me?"
Rick looks up at me, "No."
"Then what were you planning to do with me?" He looked up at me and walks towards me.
"Look, I just really like you." He looks into my eyes, pushes me against the wall and put his lips on mine.

Okay, this is my first kiss. I've never kissed a guy, and the way Rick kissed me was so gentle. I felt his lips around mine, but this was really wrong. So I pushed away from him, "Rick..." and he interrupts.
"Look Caroline I now the thing that happened with the nurse was wrong, but that didn't mean anything." He grabs my waist and puts my bangs behind my ear.
"Okay then what's up with you and Chelsey?" I gave him a hard look.
"What?" He looked confused.
"Are you and Chelsey together?" Was that clear enough?
"No, we're not together." He says firmly.
"Right, so when I saw you both kiss that didn't mean anything either?"
"Caroline c'mon, I really like you." He leaned over trying to give me a kiss.
I pushed him away, "That's just fucking petty." I started walking up the stairs.
"Caroline your making the wrong choice." He says with a smirk on his face.
"I bet I'm not." I said in a low voice.

I rushed into my piano class and I took a seat, no one noticed me coming in. I looked at the time and there was only ten minutes left for class. I started playing Ode to Joy and I think I actually nailed the eight notes.
