I had held myself up in my home. It hadn't have been more than a day of being there, the knock of concern was at my door.
"Y/n?" Vlyad called from the other side.
I folded in on myself, not wanting anyone to see me.
"Can I come in?"
I stayed silent. I heard a crack at the door.
"I know you didn't say yes but-" he started.
He hurriedly sat at my side.
"I knew something was wrong, Y/n. Y/n, please, sit up," he urged.
I turned towards him, seeing him only from one eye at a glance. He brought his hand to my eye, wiping it.
"What did you see?" He asked.
I couldn't think of what to say.
"I don't know if I should have gone searching for my past," I said.
It was a question that loomed over my head while I hadn't slept, and fell out when I tried to speak.
"I've watched two people die now," I said. "Not counting the one I made happen in this iteration of my life."
"Y/n..." Vylad said.
I mumbled, "And now, you're here... after nearly a week..."
"What?" He asked.
I sat straight up, looking him in the eye, "On top of that. You're here. I haven't seen you in a week. Nothing. And of course as I am held in my own sorrows, that's when you appear."
"I'm... sorry..."
I sighed, rubbing my head, "I'm sorry... I haven't been able to sleep."
"To busy thinking it over?" He asked.
I nodded.
He grabbed my hand, "It's painful. Worse than I could ever imagine. But I know you can handle it. I'm sorry I haven't been around I-"
"Don't feel guilty. I just don't want to lose my closest friend," I said.
"I could never leave you," he said. "You mean the world to me. I'm here because of you. I'm here for you."
"Vylad, I can't tell you-" I started.
"I know. I'll still be here, no matter your choice," he said with a sweet smile. "You're my closest friend here. You brought me back to life."
The silence couldn't quite be described. Though things were the same, our understanding had changed. We sat in silence for a moment before Malachi came running in.
"Mom!" He called, rushing to sit on my bed with me.
Vylad got up and started to step away when Malachi sat down.
"Malachi, what are you doing here?" I asked.
"Someone told me you had been bedridden. I didn't appreciate hearing about it a few days in, but I made sure to get here as soon as I could," he explained.
I made eyes at Vylad. Surely this was his doing.
"If you can run to my side when I'm not feeling well. I'm allowed to do the same mom," Malachi said.
"The kid's not wrong," Vylad commented.
After Malachi had enough time with me, and some rest, I made my way out to the porch. I found Katelyn on Patrol with Travis and Dmitri. She was talking with Aphmau about Laurance when I came up.
"But he's been acting different since we got to the island. Not the 'Shadow Knight Transformation' different... But there are times he goes out and we don't see him until the next morning," Katelyn explained.
"Things have been different since I was the Lord of Phoenix Drop.. But he's had plently of chances to come talk to me," Aph pondered.
"He has and same goes for him speaking to myself, Y/n here, and Travis... There have been plenty of chances for him to communicate but.. the reason I brin this up is because... Sasha. She said something to us while we were moving her," Katelyn said.
"What did she say?" Aph asked.
"That woman has always been a little creepy... Something about her isn't right... almost inhuman. It's almost as if Im looking at a doll. I can't explain it better than that. It was nothing really. She was talking about Laurance... nothing we didn't already know about him... but rather it was the way she was sayinf things... as if she knew mkre about him that we didn't."
Katelyn and Travis both suggested we speak to her. Katelyn, Travis, and Dmitri walked off to go train, and Aphmau and I made our way down to the cells. Sasha spoke about Lauarance coming to see her a lot recently, and I felt an uneasiness in my stomach. Why would he be coming to her? We made our way up to the square only to hear from Mikai of talks of a tyrant king and yet another possibility of war. I walked away, hoping to find Laurance. I didn't know he was struggling so much and I felt as though I had to be there for him right now. Had to speak to him, help him clear his mind of whatever was plaguing it. He always did that for me, he deserved just the same. I searched all about the island, unsure of where he was. At the end of the night, I made my way back towards my own home. I saw Aaron up ahead, with the fragment Aphmau had found in his hand. He walked off into the forest and I followed a ways behind.
"I know you're there. Go back," he said.
"Tell me what you're doing and I might," I said.
"I'm going to open the portal to the Irene Dimension," he said shortly.
"You're going to sacrifice yourself..."
He nodded.
"Aphmau. She'll be destroyed," I said in awe.
"No more than she will without Garroth. And she needs Zane. She needs him to protect everyone," he explained.
I took a few breaths. There was no reason to fear Aaron. He wasn't Shad. Shad wasn't even a destroyer until after he took on the relic.
"You're not like him... You're the complete opposite of him after.... Do you want help?" I sighed.
"What do you mean?" He questioned.
"I will be honest with you since you're walkin towards death's door to help Aphmau. You are a reincarnation of Shad the Destroyer. It's uncanny really... I knew Shad to a horrible man in the last bit of his life. But you are not him. You weren't ruined by the relic," I said.
"How would you know all of this?" He asked.
"Because... I'm Lady Ereni. And Aphmau is Lady Irene. And I'm not about to let you try and open this portal and die without the connection going through."
