Back at the Lai family, the village chief, some elders, and the whole Lai family gathered in the house. The wedding has not yet even taken place yet one can see how anxious the Lai family is to separate Lai Long from them.

Who doesn't know that the reason for this is to get the rumored big amount of money from the eldest son! They'd come to such means of using separation to get a large compensation from the eldest son!

The village chief was aware of all this, however, he really cannot interfere.

"Is this everyone's final and mutual decision?" The village chief asked.

"Yes, chief. The eldest son will be having his own family soon, and though we are reluctant to let him go, he also wanted to. We cannot really stop him." Mother Lai's words seemed to say that Lai Long was the one who took the initiative to separate, though she's not wrong.

The village chief looked at Lai Long. Seeing his usual stern look, the chief withdrew his gaze and read the agreement of the family. He suddenly paused, as he stuttered, "5-50%?! You want 50% of the eldest son's money?!!"

The villagers who were also eavesdropping were shocked! The Lai family actually wanted to take half of the eldest son's money despite knowing he'll be raising a family!

Mother Lai sneered. "Don't think wrongly! This has also been approved by my eldest son!"

The village chief looked at Lai Long with a hint of sympathy. But seeing his uncaring attitude, he faithfully did his role as the village chief.

Before he could sign the papers, he heard Lai Long's deep voice, "village chief, I also want to add something."

Seeing everyone's attention on him, Lai Long continued without batting an eye on the intimidating gazes of his mother and father. He continued, "my own will is that after the wedding, I want no relationship with the Lai family anymore. We will become complete strangers and there will be no more filial pity."

His words further shocked the listeners, especially the Lai family. Some of the villagers who were listening said a word or two labeling Lai Long as 'unfilial', 'white-eyed wolf', and such. However, he did not care.

The village chief felt that Lai Long is thinking for his future so he did not reject and quickly wrote it down.

Before anyone could further say anything, Lai Long said, "the last of my filial pity is half of my money. Not to mention, the monthly salary that I had sent those past years I was serving in the army. I believe the Lai family is well-off."

His words stopped the villagers and mother Lai who was about to interject.

Once the agreement had been signed, the village chief went home not forgetting to give Lai Long and the Lai family each of the copies, and the last copy was kept by the village chief.

Seeing no more fun, the villagers around quickly dispersed. Lai Long also went out and headed towards the dilapidated house that was left in his property. The house is located at the foot of the mountain so there are lots of wild grass and debris around it. He started cleaning his new home. He planned to fetch water at the river near his house.

Zhou Shan who was about to wash clothes at the river suddenly decided to go wash at other place in order to not be humiliated and be another star on other people's talk in there. Zhou Shan originally did not know where to go but his feet seemed to have life of their own as he was led in the river which has some distance from the village.

When Lai Long arrived at the river, he saw someone washing clothes there. Lai Long frowned at first. Since this river is far from the main village, no people are willing to come here to wash clothes yet this person came here. Lai Long walked towards the person but quickly stopped when he noticed it is a ger.

Zhou Shan who immediately noticed the other man's presence look up in alarm. He stood up when he saw a fierce man with a long scar on his face.

Although he should be afraid, Zhou Shan just couldn't. He felt that the man won't hurt him. He even felt distress looking at his scar!

"Who are you and why are you here?"

"I-I'm...I..'m Zhou S-Shan. I'm from this village. I'm sorry for disturbing you. I'll go immediately. Please forgive me." After Zhou Shan said those words, he hurriedly arranged his clothes whether it was washed or unwashed.

Originally, Lai Long wanted him to go away quickly but hearing him say his name, he was surprised.

"Wait."

Zhou Shan paused his action, he heard the other say, "you can continue to wash here. Don't worry." Lai Long's voice obviously soften.

Zhou Shan was confused and looked at him. Seeing his unguarded look, Lai Long found it cute and felt afraid at the thought that his future wife is so soft and gullible. He decided that their marriage should be rushed!

"I'm Lai Long." Seeing no surprised expression from him, Lai Long added, "your future husband."

With that, Zhou Shan finally reacted. His face was full of incredulous look.

Lai Long showed a smile which as if blinded Zhou Shan.

"U-umm................mn'kay, husband," Zhou Shan was shocked by his words. He was so ashamed that he covered his face and turned his body around. He didn't know what to say and what came out of his mouth felt natural.

Lai Long was also surprised. When he was called that, a sweet feeling burst out in his heart. His ears unknowingly turned red and a smile beamed on his face.

"Well, you can call me that, wife."

Zhou Shan did not know how he went home. All he remembered was that he continued washing his clothes in embarrassment while his future Lao Gong was fetching water back and forth into who knows where. Tomorrow is the scheduled time of the family meet-up. Zhou Shan had a slight anticipation in his heart. He felt that his future man is gentle and kind despite his fierce look. Most of all, although many labeled him as disfigured and ugly man, he didn't think so after looking at him in such close distance. He felt that the scars and wounds in his face added to his manly aura. But still, he felt distressed looking at it. Unknowingly, he's already planning how to take care of him in the near future.

Currently the two families faced each other in the table full of sumptuous food. It looks sumptuous from the Zhou family's view, but for the Lai's, it was just a normal meal.

Zhou Shan was staring at Lai Long with somewhat bright and shy eyes. Zhou Ai felt that it was the end of this disgusting brother of his. It was obvious that he'll be married to a fierce and ugly man, yet he's anticipating it! Heh.

The families had a good talk and quickly decided that the wedding would happen two days later.

Before they went their separate ways, Lai Long led Zhou Shan in a somewhat private place for couples. The Zhou family already imagined Zhou Shan's tragic fate at the man's hand. Unfortunately, they could only imagine it.

When the two arrived, Lai Long gifted Zhou Shan an elegant hair pin. He personally put it on his hair and find him even more beautiful.

"We're getting married overmorrow, wife."

Zhou Shan's face become beet red at the address, "mn, husband."

Lai Long smiled.
