"I told you you weren't ready kid," Plagg said disappointedly, "it's too early to see your house again and especially to be Chat Noir again,"
Adrien knew he was right.
Yet he'd still gone.
Why?
Because he wanted to take charge of his recovery instead of letting his wounds fester.
Never doing that again.
"Yeah yeah," he mumbled, tossing a ball into the mini hoop on his door, "I just thought it would help you know? Clearly not,"
"Why don't you try something easier!" Tikki suggested, "like going back to school,"
"It won't feel the same without Marinette,"
"Okay then...fencing?"
"Held at the school, reminds me of her too I guess,"
"Piano?"
"My piano got destroyed in the battle,"
"Um...modelling,"
Adrien stared at Plagg in disbelief at his suggestion.
"She was a fashion designer Plagg,"
"Well I don't know! Why don't you go reach Chinese to a squirrel or something,"
Adrien didn't even bother responding.
"I know I should do something..."
Tikki lit up with an idea.
"Ooh! You could visit Chloe! You haven't seen her in a while!"
Adrien chewed in his lip. It wasn't such a bad idea... Chloe had nothing to do with Ladybug or Marinette or Hawkmoth - besides a few minor instances - and it was true, he hadn't visited her in forever.
"That's...a good idea Tikki!" He said, "I'll go now,"
Plus maybe it could offer the distraction he so desperately needed.
Grabbing his bag, Adrien didn't comment when Plagg dove inside, even though there was no way he'd be transforming. Tikki wished him luck and went to hang out with the other Kwamis.
"Nathalie, I'm going to Chloe's!" Adrien called.
"Really? Okay, be back by 10 alright?" Came Nathalie's shocked reply. He hadn't been out in forever.
Before he lost his nerve or succumbed yet again to the memories that trailed him everywhere like a ghost, Adrien set of in the direction of the hotel.
He purposefully took the long way to avoid stopping by a certain bakery.
"Hey Armand," he greeted the butler, "Do you know where Chloe is?"
"Oh! Mister Adrien? It's been a while hasn't it," he also sounded surprised, "Mlle. Chloe is just in her room,"
"Thanks!"
*ding*
The lift doors opened with a soft beeping sound, and he stepped out into the penthouse floor reserved for the Bourgeois family and special guests.
Adrien counted down the doors until he landed on 32F, knocking lightly.
"Hell- ADRIKINS!" Chloe said with surprise as she opened the door, "how are you doing?"
Chloe's long arms wrapped around him, not in a romantic way as she used to, but in a comforting way. He hadn't seen her since before the final battle.
"I'm doing...not great," he admitted, "but I'm getting there," I think.
