"I give up," Adrien groaned into his pillow, "school was awful, my father was awful, going to the bakery was...alright I guess," his fingers fisted in the soft cotton of his bedsheets, "I should've just stayed home today,"

He could feel the disappointment from almost two dozen kwamis radiating around the room. Disappointed for him, not in him.

"I could've told you that," came the surly whisper of who could've only been Plagg, before he was reprimanded by an orchestra of other high pitched voices.

"What he means Adrien, is that maybe we should take it one day at a time," Tikki suggested, "Maybe we should just see how school goes before facing your father,"

Always the voice of reason.

Maybe that was where Ladybug got it from.

"I'm just so tired of this," Adrien said sadly, not bothering to lift his face from the muffled mask that was his pillow, "I just want her to come back,"

There was silence for a beat. Two beats.

"Kid, you know she's not- Hey!" Plaggs question was cut of by an exclamation of pain.

"Plagg you are not helping," someone hissed.

"Adrien how about you just keep going to school for a bit, wait for it to die down, and then try and take the next step," Trixx this time.

"I'm never going to school again," Adrien knew he was being stubborn and that his classmates would eventually get off his back, but he didn't care.

"You survived today didn't you?"

"Barely,"

"But that was kinda because you went to see your father wasn't it?" This time, no one stopped Plagg from talking.

Adrien had no defence to that. Instead, he twisted in bed, finally sitting up and rumpling the overly pristine sheets.

Nothing, the sheets, the bed, the house, felt like home anymore. His home had died with Marinette.

"I had to see him Plagg. I needed closure," Adrien whispered. Closure, acceptance, satisfaction, the whole package really.

"Was it really that desperate?" The grumpy kwami was softening, drifting towards the broken boy.

"Yes..."

"Adrien-"

"No..."

"Once you both get a chance to cool down, you can visit again, but for now let's just take it one step at a time."

"...okay,"

"Plagg?" The two had all but forgotten the other kwamis.

"I want to see her."

"Okay what happened to-"

"I- I need to see her Plagg," his voice came out in a broken whisper. Pleading, desperate.

"Why don't you wait a couple days?" His Kwamis response was weak, knowing that Adrien would go anyway, "or maybe take Nino with you?"

Adrien didn't answer, simply rolling onto his back and pulling out his phone.
