I have always wondered what it would be like to be noticed, liked for who you are. I guess that's why I'm trying this thing? Not to be noticed but to be liked for who I am.
I just film my first YouTube video. And god it's terrible but I don't care, I'm proud of myself for doing it. I'm not expecting much from it. Just a little fun for myself.
It's my last year at high school, thank god it's nearly over. I honestly don't know how I have survived this long. Isn't funny how some peoples high school stories are great and others are not so great. As for mine, not so great. Every day for the past 4 years have been hell. I've been alone with no friends because no one at my school isn't excepting of people with flaws or being people who are different. And on another hand everyone sees me as the girl whose father murdered someone. So everyone is scared of me. And on my behalf, I didn't even know my father he walked out on my mum and I when I was 4. And yes it super scary knowing that he is that dangerous.
"Lydia come down for breakfast!" My mum yells from downstairs.
I walk down stairs after I get dressed in my usual outfit, ripped skinny jeans and a band t-shirt, today's band of the day is Greenday.
"You should really go for a different style this year Hun, you know you're nearly 18 and...." My mum says as I come down the stairs
"Mum I don't care if I die alone" I snap "I like what I wear"
"I was just saying"
"You know I shouldn't need to change for someone to fall in love with me, some mum you are" no matter how hard I try to keep back these types of comments I can't.
"I didn't mean it like that. I meant Maybe change will be good for you"
I just ignored her, grabbed breakfast and left out the door for school. It was like this every morning. I know she's my mum but she doesn't understand who I am and who i wanna be and half the time she doesn't even bother saying hello.
After about 3kms down the street I see some of familiar faces looking down laughing at their phones. What could possibly be the new thing today. Then they all look over at me.
"Hey there she is! What a loser" one of the girls yell.
Oh back the hell up. I'm the type of girl who stands up for herself. So they better watch out.
"Excuse me?" I yell frustratedly
"You do realise you're to ugly for the Internet" the same girl whines
"You do release that make up can fix this but to sad for you because there's no cure for being a slut" I flip them the bird and walk off.Schools going to be great today. Yay for sarcasm.
I walk into the school gates and get funny looks from everyone. I jump as someone touches my shoulder.
"Oh sorry I didn't mean to scare you I saw your video and really enjoyed it, I'm Ally" I tall red haired girl smiles
"Nice to meet you" I say
"Don't worry about what others say about it, I think you're a pro!" She ensures me.
"Uh thanks and don't worry I won't" I laugh.
We end up looking at each other timetables and turns out we are in most of the same classes.
"How come I've never seen you before?" I ask as we walk to music
"I usually just stay alone and quiet as I'm not that great with others" she shrugs.
Me too.
"How come I haven't seen you since today?" She asks me.
"No one has ever really noticed me until today" I laugh.
"Omg" she squeals.
"What?"
"Look who our teacher is"
Mr Philly. He's sexy AF.
"Yes!" I yell
We both laugh and sit beside each other. Im finding strange to actually have a potential friend near me. Call me sappy but it's pretty nice.
The rest of the day went pretty fast. I learnt that Ally even went to the same primary school with me, how do I not notice her?On my way home I thought I'd stop by the old music store to see if any of my favourite bands had any new albums out.
As I walk in the smell of old records filled my nostrils.
"Hey, would you like help with anything?" The shop keeper asks.
"I'm right just having a look thanks." I reply as I walk over to the newly released section.
"You come in quite a lot you know, you do know there's a job over here?"
I job in a music store, hell yes, not mention but the store keeper is pretty cute.
"Really?"
"Yeah, it's yours if you answer these few questions"
I nod.
"Name?"
"Lydia"
"Favourite band?"
"I can't answer that question, because there's to many to choose from, like obviously look at my shirt. And not to mention Fall out boy or like some old stuff like nirvana, blink 182 or like.."
"Okay you're hired" he cuts me off.
"You can't start tomorrow afternoon around this time?" He winks
"Sure, is there any uniform?"
"Something like what you're wearing is fine" he looks me up and down.
"And um I'm Shawn by the way"
"Nice to meet you, you look a little young to be running a store"
"well it's my parents store, I dropped out of school to run it" he laughs.
"I'm actually 17, you?"
"Same, I'm still at school though, well I better get going, my mum will want me home for dinner" I start to walk out.
"Wait, you should listen to this!" He hands me 5 Seconds of Summer album.
"Sure thanks!" I leave.
When I get home I tell my mum about Ally and Shawn and my new job she seemed pretty happy about me getting a job. Then I go up to my room and listen to 5 Seconds of Summer, it was like I was in a whole new world. I was in love with their sound.
