Pandora Knight didn't always have her head stuck in a book. There was once a time when she ran around the island with the other kids trying to find trouble. There was a time when the other kids knew her name and not 'the weird Knight'. There was a time when she had friends, but that was the past, this is the present.
"Pandora!"
A loud voice rumbled up the stairs and floated to the unconscious girl laying peacefully in bed. When the voice didn't get a response, footsteps bounded toward the closed door before a fist came down with a loud thump.
"P, wake up or you'll be late." The voice got louder as the door creaked open and Renley Knight peaked his head in to spy his daughter sleeping soundly in her bed with a book open wide on her chest.
Renley Knight was an older man, boarding his fifties, with little grey hairs peeking through his light brown hair. He had crinkles around his golden-brown eyes from smiling and he had two dimples on the corners of his mouth.
He smiled softly at his daughter as he took the book off of her chest to place it on the nightstand, but not before sliding a bookmark in between the pages to keep her reading place. He shook Pandora softly until her green eyes fluttered open.
"Mornin' dad" Pandora slurred out, her voice still rugged with sleep. She rubbed her eyes to get rid of the drowsiness pulling at her.
"How late did you stay up last night?" Her dad asked while he handed her a steaming cup of vanilla flavored coffee.
Pandora sat up leaning against her bedframe, being careful of the liquid warming her hands. "I don't know, I think it was around four?"
Renley sighed, he wished she would go to bed earlier for her own sanity, but they both knew it wouldn't happen. "You promised Heyward you would help him and Pope at eight, it's seven thirty."
Pandora let out a quiet 'shit' before throwing her thick covers off of her body, not without setting her coffee down first, and rushing to the bathroom across the hall from her room, slipping a little on a rouge t-shirt lying on her floor on the way.
She quickly turned the shower knob to the hottest setting it could go before rushing back to her bedroom to grab clothes for the day.
She grabbed a dark red bikini that had the straps going all the way around her stomach and a black skirt out of her dresser. Out of her closet she grabbed an oversized graphic t-shirt and then she was speeding back to the bathroom and dumping the clothes onto the sink counter.
Shutting the door behind her she stripped down and took what she thought was the quickest shower she had ever taken.
Ten minutes later, she was grabbing a small brown backpack that had no less than three books and a dozen highlighters inside. Then she was walking out of the door yelling a quick 'bye dad' to the man in the kitchen.
"Bye P."

The walk to the Heyward's Seafood was relatively quick, since she only lived a couple of blocks away, so fifteen minutes later Pandora was making her way inside of the store.
She had known the Heyward's nearly all of her life, and when her mom disappeared when she was three the two adults had taken her in as their own.
Because of this, people always assumed that her and Pope Heyward were close, but in reality, they didn't talk too much.
It wasn't that they didn't like each other, Pandora just got nervous around other people her age and plus he was friends with John B Routledge. And that was one person she held a simmer of dislike for. Not a lot, but enough for her to avoid him most of the time.
