Kellin Quinn was having a good time for the first time in months. His friends organized a Christmas party that didn't turn out to be lame as hell and he was actually surprised. He hadn't laughed that much since It happened. Hand't danced quite as much, hadn't sang as happily as he did. Maybe the drinks had a little to do with it, but he wouldn't pin his ease all in alcohol.
He felt better. He was doing a lot better. He hadn't thought about him at all during the entire evening. That was a good sign. He got distracted and had fun. He was good.
But then.
Kellin hadn't meant to. Obviously not. He was recovering from all the dancing and singing and the holiday edition games his friends wanted to play, nursing a new drink in his hand, and sitting on a sofa that, for some reason, was all wrapped in colorful fairy lights on the backside. He wasn't really bothering anyone when he noticed his friend Justin scrolling through his Facebook feed beside him, with the screen of his phone at full brightness for anyone to see, mindlessly watching every one of his friend's holiday posts and whatnot.
It was barely a glance. A 0.05 second look. But it was enough. His entire world flipped. His stomach dropped. He felt physically and emotionally sick all of a sudden.
"Oh shit," Justin muttered and scrolled back up, clearly realizing what he had skipped over and looking over the photos again.
But Kellin looked away, focusing on his cup instead. That was far more interesting. Yeah. He never noticed the color of this particular drink. Or why the cup was a different color on the inside. Shouldn't it be the same red on both sides? Hm. Weird.
"You okay, man?"
Kellin nodded frantically, showing just how a-okay he was. He didn't see a thing. He was fine.
