He could not understand but excepted this little white lie which leads us to how he came to be where he is.

Present day:
After Jake had been caught by his father he was taken back to his home once again with his family. Our story takes place in a second story apartment in New York City. The apartment is pretty cheap and not really anything special. Upon entering the room you come down a small hallway leading into the living room. Straight In front you see the outline of where a wall once was now just a top portion of a wall with a beam tracing down about a quarter of the way from the left of the living room. In the small opening to the left you see the kitchen and to the other gap on the right side lies the dining room with a small wooden table and four chairs. With two window lying behind. The room is boxed in with three walls and in the living room lies a couch at the center of the room with a tv on a tv stand to the right wall. The furniture is outdated and old with all of the floor being old carpet and bland walls with small amounts of pictures hanging from the walls. A small hallway goes down next to the tv on the left with the dining room being to the left of the hallway. Three rooms lie ahead. Straight ahead lies the office and to the right the parents room and to the left Jake's room with another door next to Jake's which is the bathroom. For this scene it will take place in the dining room.

Jake is sitting at the dining table with his father and mother. Not a word to be spoken. A mother's dried tears and running mascara with a father's disappointed glare. Jake thinking to himself says, "I can't stand when he gives me that look as if he could understand what it's like being here. I have no real friends and never get to go experience the outside world. This place feels like a prison and I can't stand it. I mean I hate that I made my mother cry but..." before Jake finished his though his father interrupts, "Jake... son this is getting out of hand. The stress you're putting on your mother and I is getting overwhelming. I mean just look at your mother!" Jake looks over at his mother feeling guilt for making her cry, yet still furious at their disregard of his feelings. Jake's father then goes on to say, "Listen son I can't sit here and continue to watch you do this to your mother and I. We have had the same talk every time you do this but, today thats finally going to change. We know you've been sneaking out through your window but me and your mother have been talking and feel maybe it's time we sent you away for a while.." Jake interrupting his father says, "Send me away?. To where and why?. I know I keep running away but you have no idea how boring my life is. I have no friends and barely anything in my room to distract myself. I don't go to school. I don't get to go out and I don't get to go do anything. I stare at these same walls everyday. The only form of distraction from the insanity I'm being put through is that of the tv. I simply can't take it anymore." Jake's father then replies, "Son we know it's hard and maybe it's time we told you the truth..." Jean interrupts, "NO I refuse! We can't tell him yet he's not ready.." Jake's dad replies, "Yes it's time, we simply can't hide it from him anymore. He needs to know so that he can understand why we have been treating him this way. Listen Jake..." Jean then interrupts, "Well if you're going to go through with this then I simply can't stay here for this." Jean arising from the table leaves in a hurry to her room and slams the door crying vigorously. Jake says, "Dad what is this about and what have you and mom been hiding and why is she so upset. Jake's dad replies, "Son this is going to be hard to hear but it's time you know. You're not really our child... Your mother and I adopted you when you were just 2 years of age. Ik it's hard to hear... the truth about your real family is that you were abused and your mother dropped you off at the orphanage because she didn't want you. We came there looking for a child we could call our own ya know..? Reason being.. your mother and I are unable to have our own kids due to some complications. We were scared of losing you or something happening and we were also scared of you searching and asking questions of your own. We knew you would eventually start to suspect something if you had gone to a public school so we kept you away from it and it gave you more time to she with us. I just hope you don't hate us after hearing this.." Jake sat there absolutely speechless as a tear fell from his eyes in shock at what he had just been told. He arose from the table with silence enough to hear a pen drop as if in an empty room. Jake slowly slid the chair under the table and began walking to his room. Jake's father said, "Jake please don't walk away son. Please we never meant to hurt you." Jake continued to his room and entered shutting the door and locking it. After seeing that his son was upset Jake's father decided to give him space. Later into the evening Jean and Jake's father has gone to bed... but what awaits them in the morning when the sun rises?.
