"Y/n?" Wyatt said, sounding astoundingly nervous.
You sat in what felt like forever of silence before Addison nudged your leg with her fist. She gave you a look that said "Speak!"
"Um... H-hey. How are you...?" You closed your eyes, releasing a silent breath. You opened them to Addison giving you another look, this one of bewilderment, as though she was shocked at your sudden incompetence at talking.
"I'm... I'm good. I was just wondering if you wanted to... Uh... Hang out after school tomorrow? Maybe get some froyo?" Wyatt responded, his voice sounding hopeful.
"Yeah!" You cringed at your excitement, while Addi tried not to laugh beside you, over your momentary loss of function.
"Okay, great!" Wyatt almost sounded relieved. "So... Uh... See you at school then?"
Your face burned with a slight embarrassment, and you cleared your throat, hoping to stop it before it overtook you and hijacked your night.
"Sounds awesome. I can't wait." You said into the receiver, ready to hang up, crawl into a hole, and stay there forever.
On the other end of the line, you heard a squeal, likely coming from Wynter. You giggled softly.
"Sorry about that..." Wyatt said, sheepishly. "Wynter wanted to be in the room..."
You were suddenly feeling much more comfortable. "That's okay. It's cool. See you tomorrow, Wyatt."
"Bye." He said, releasing a breathy laugh.
Then, you hit the "end call" button, dropping your phone onto the floor, squealing. Addison was celebrating with you, the two of you giggling and conversing happily.
"Oh my gosh, I am never talking on the phone again." You said, clasping your hand over your eyes, now feeling exasperated.
"What are you talking about? That went so well." Addi said, heavy sarcasm in her tone. She propped her head in her hand.
You rolled your eyes, grabbing a pillow and tossing it in her direction. "Yeah... Whatever... At least he finally talked to me."
Addi caught the pillow with ease. "Well y'know, you could've said something to him first..."
You sighed, fidgeting with the blanket in your hands. "I didn't want to assume anything. Maybe he really just wants to be friends..."
"You are really bad at paying attention to detail. At least when it comes to your own life... He so like-likes you. He's just nervous. And so are you. Too nervous, if you ask me." She smiles, understandingly.
"I just wish it would flow. Like you and Zed... You two are like... The perfect couple. And you're even going to college together." You bite your lip, thoughtfully. "Hopefully."
Addison's smile fades just slightly. "Yeah... But, look, the only thing that matters is that the two of you like each other and everything's gonna be fine. You just have to be open about how you feel."
You groaned. "You know that's not easy for me... It sucks I guess, but that's who I am."
Addison moved to sit right next to you, pulling you into her arms. "Hey, we've all had our struggles. You'll get through this. I promise. And I'll be here with you every step of the way."
"Thanks, Addi." You returned the hug, feeling a purifying energy run through you. Then, you remembered one of the pictures that you'd drawn recently. The night before, to be more specific.
Addison seemed to have sensed a change in the room, because she pulled away from you, inspecting your face. "What's up..." She asked, suspicion on her features.
You stuttered for an explanation, knowing that your vision had been important, but you weren't sure why. As usual. "Well... I didn't really want to bring it up..."
Addison stared at you, patiently but also obviously urging you to continue.
"Okay... I had a dream last night. I didn't really remember it, but when I was drawing in my notebook, I started feeling this like... Electrical pulse in my hand. So, I got my sketchbook and I let my hand draw... And I saw a spaceship. Like a UFO. I don't know what it means or if I'm gonna actually see it." Something clicked inside your head, like a puzzle piece fitting into place. Furrowing your brows, you continue. "I think it has to do with the game friday..."
Addison scoffed. "Of course. Those stupid Eels probably have some big, dramatic... Thing planned. We'll just have to go bigger and better. Be ready y/n, we are going to crush the competition!" She said, excitedly.
You laughed. "I hope the team'll be able to learn the chorography quickly."
"Hey, we got this." Addi said, assuredly.
