Vera and Patrick were both having butterflies knowing that the time for their date was coming.
Vera was finalizing the supper when someone knocked at her door. Of course, she thought it was Patrick but... no it wasn't.
It was Renn, her ex-husband. He was coming to apologize... but Vera didn't want to hear any of his stuff.
Renn entered in even if she told him not to. He sat down and another knocking was being heard.
This time, it was truly Patrick.
He got in with a bottle of wine and a bag and froze. Patrick completely ignored Renn, took Vera by the hand and led her in the bathroom to talk to her in private.
"What is going on?"
"I don't know! He just showed up like that! I had no idea he was coming and I thought it was you so I opened the goddamn door! He said he wants to apologize but I don't wanna hear what he has to say!"
"V, do you want me to get him out of here?"
"Please"
They both got out of the tiny bathroom and Renn got up. Patrick was looking at Renn in the eyes. Patrick wanted to look more imposing over Renn and told him dryly that Vera didn't want to hear from him and to get the hell out. Without any word or hesitation he got out, tears in his eyes.
Vera started crying too... She didn't like that kind of stuff. Her ex-husband showing up when she had a date with her best friend. Vera was still so confused in her head but she wanted Patrick so badly.
He looked back at Vera and hugged her, told her that everything was going to be okay someday. She smiled at him and Patrick kissed her on the forehead.
Vera got away and checked if the chicken was ready. Tonight, they were having Parmigiana chicken - one of Patrick's favorite meal -.
Patrick set the table and poured two glasses of red wine. Vera lit two candles and dimmed the lights. She put Patrick's plate in front of him and put hers at her place. Vera sat at the table and they started eating.
"It's excellent, V! Thank you!"
"It's all my pleasure"
They laughed for a bit when suddenly Patrick took a serious look.
"So.. what are we doing here? Are we just messing around or we want something serious?"
"Well.. I can't respond for "we" but I want something serious."
"Good! Because me too!"
They laughed, talked and exchanged secrets while eating the incredible supper that Vera made.
Patrick took their plates, put them in the washer and opened the fridge. Vera asked him what he was looking for but he replied by telling her to close her eyes. He got out a big cheesecake from the refrigerator. Vera's favorite dessert. He took two forks and and brought the cake at the table.
When Vera opened her eyes Patrick was sitting next to her at the table and told her that it was his "thank you" for having invited him.
They were looking at each other for a while when Vera kissed Patrick.
After the long kiss, Patrick sat back at his place during the supper and said;
"Well, let's celebrate it by eating your favorite cake!"
"Celebrate what?!" Vera said laughing.
"Us!"
She froze...
Us, she sais in her mind, her smile disappeared from her rosy face. Patrick saw it and took her frozen hand.
"Hey, I'm sorry... I know I might go too fast but that's only because I'm really excited! But when I go too fast you have to tell me V, okay?"
She was lost in her mind for a while then said with a big smile on her face;
Now Patrick was the one confused and Vera saw it. Patrick told her that he didn't understand but Vera cut him.
"Us! Let's celebrate us!"

Well, well, well. Here we are. At the end of my first little story ever (with chapters). I hope you enjoyed it like me and thank you if you've read everything. I hope you like the end! I have no ideas for what would've come next with this story so I decided to end it here.
