and so the two spent the whole day just talking. finding new and interesting things out about the others. Aengus secretly loves to collect random Funko Pops, and Deirdre absolutely adores looking for sea glass and other lost things.

So when night rolled around, they were shocked. Had they really been talking so long? Then they both checked the stovetop clock.

10:30

Upon seeing the time, Aengus began to slightly panic. "Man, I forgot I had work to do." He rushed out, needing to go turn on the lighthouse. "Let me show you your new room, I guess, love."

With that, he stood up and began walking. Deirdre quickly followed suit and scrambled after him, not wanting to be somewhere she was supposed to be. The two walked down the hall, passing pictures of former keepers and old paintings. They all caught her eye—the many shapes and sizes of the keepers and the beautiful blending in the paintings.

But she stopped admiring the walls when she came face-to-face with a door.

“Here's the guest room,” Aengus said while gesturing towards the door. "I'm going to be in the lantern room the majority of the night, so don't stay up waiting for me.” He smirked.

He quickly began speed-walking away, not wanting to get in trouble for turning the beacon on later than scheduled. Deridre watched his retreating form; he yawned while quickly grabbing a cup of something and a small bag of items to keep himself occupied throughout the night.

He seems too focused on his job to question anything she tells him; maybe it's better that way, keeping him in the dark. But why does she feel icky for lying?
