My eyes open and he's sitting in front of me. He's tied me up again. 22, and he still holds onto this fear from 10 years ago. "Mono..?"
His hands land firmly on my shoulder. It's dark, I can't see. "Mono?" I ask again, but he doesn't answer. I can only hear his heavy breathing. "Don't leave, don't leave..." he mumbles, an edge to his voice. "Don't...don't..." he looks up at me, trembling, crying. He must've had another nightmare. "Honey, calm down, I'm never leaving you.." I reassure him. I reach out my hands for him, but they're still tied up. Right. "Mono, could you maybe untie me?" I ask gently. He shakes his head. "I can't. You'll leave, again...you'll run..." "I wanna touch you..." I mumble. "Please..." He tilts his head. I can feel his footsteps behind me, then I'm free.

He crouches down to face me, hands on his knees like he's tempting me to run away. I reach out my hands until they touch his chest. I pull him into my arms, and I can feel him grab me back. I bite his neck gently and he laughs. "You're so out of character when you have those nightmares...tying me up and all." "I'm sorry." His voice whispers back. "It's okay. I don't care." "Hey Six...?" "Do you insist on still calling me that? We have our real names now, you know.." "Right, we...escaped?" "Yes, Mono." "Can you remind me why again?" He asks. "We weren't happy. Only the saddest kids go there. And..." I bite my lip, not wanting to think of all the horrible things that were back there. "We weren't anymore. We survived, and we weren't sad. Because we found each other. We were happy. We're happy."
