"Eden I cant put up with this anymore!" My mom scolded from across the counter. I slouched in my seat at the table and rolled my eyes. We had just got back from school after being told they couldn't have me a student there anymore.

"You have been through 3 schools! Wether it's a fight or property damage or being disrespectful to a teacher, I don't know what to do with you" She continued. I just kept to myself and said nothing.

"Look honey, i know things have been hard since your dad left but it's been hard for me to, please just work with me here" She said, softening her tone. I rolled my eyes and looked at her pointedly

"What if it's not about dad? What if for once in our lives, what i did wasn't based around dad?" I argued back.

"But it was! You punched that girl because she was talking shit about him and us!"

"Okay yeah one time so what?"

"It's not the first time. You have to see it from my perspective, things are hard enough. I have people at work speculating and gossiping, i get pity looks everywhere i go and now i have to deal with the shame of having a daughter who doesn't know how to control herself!" I stood up done with the conversation.

"Sorry i'm causing you shame mom." I said and went up to my room. I know i'm being an ass. I just don't know how to act anymore. My dad walked out on us last year and things haven't been the same.  I hate that everything i do gets blamed on my dad as if he has some sort of effect on me even after he's long gone.

As i laid in bed, there was a knock at the door.

"Honey, i just got off the phone with Katherine Walter, you remember her right?" My mom said as she sat on the edge of my bed. I sat up and nodded.

"Well i was telling her about our situation. She suggested something and i agreed" i raised my eyebrow.

"She said she's got a nice house on a big ranch and lot's of kids, easily room for one more. She thinks it would be good to have you go there for a bit, live around a stable and well disciplined family, a new school too." I looked at her with wide eyes

"Mom you have got to be kidding! I barely know the woman and your just shipping me off to live with her?"

"You may not know her that well but she's my best friend, i trust her more than anyone. And i think it would be good to have some time apart so i can gain some stability myself" She added

"What about my friends, my life that i have here? I'm supposed to agree to just leave it all behind?" I was in shock. I could hardly believe what she was saying to me.

"It's not permanent, just for a bit okay? We'll go shopping for anything you may need, maybe a new wardrobe?" She smiled

"You can't bribe me with a new wardrobe." I snapped back. She sighed

"I think you'll enjoy yourself. If you give it a chance you may even end up wanting to stay forever" She said, putting her hand over mine. I stayed silent in anger and disbelief

"Okay well, you have a few days to process it and then a few more days to get anything you need and then your flights next Saturday" and with that she left. She'd already booked my flight? God she couldn't wait for me to leave.

It's been a week. I spent as much time as i could with my friends and my boyfriend, Dylan. I was most upset about leaving him behind. We agreed long distance just wouldn't work for us. I had gone shopping with my mom to get a new wardrobe as she said. According to Katherine, Colorado style was way different to New York.

Saturday rolled around pretty quickly and i was now saying bye to my mom at the airport.

"I'll call you everyday and you must send me pictures" She said as she hugged me tight. While i was annoyed that she was the one sending me off, i was going to miss her. I hugged her back just as tight

"And if anything happens, anything at all, i can get you on the next flight home but please just try and enjoy yourself, give people a chance." She said. I nodded in agreement.

"I love you mom" I said before i walked through security. She said it back and waved as i became out of view. I took a deep breathe and focused on what i was doing.

After a long flight i was on the other side with my luggage waiting for Katherine. I had texted my mom letting her know i had landed and was all good. I just sent a text when i heard someone shout my name.

"Eden!" It was Katherine, my mom had showed me a picture so i'd recognise her. She was even prettier in person. I waved at her as she made her way over. She straight away gave me a hug. I immediately got a warm welcome feeling from her. I hugged her back and smiled. Her husband, George shook my hand and took my suitcases. We got in a truck and i sat in the back, not thinking of anything to say.

"I think you're going to like it, the boys are friendly although they put up the tough brother act. And there's also Parker so you won't be the only girl." Katherine said, breaking the silence. I hummed in response, not really sure how to reply.

"Your 16 right?" She asked.

"Yep" I said, looking out the window

"Well then your the same age as Alex and Danny and one year younger than Cole. I'm afraid you and Cole will get on like a house on fire" She laughed

"Why do you say that?" I asked intrigued

"Well from what i've been told, your quite the troublemaker and partygoer, Cole has the same habits. In fact it might be a good idea to keep you two away from each other. I promised your mom i'd have you on your best behaviour." She explained. I nodded in understanding.

We finally came to a halt outside a beautiful house on yards of fields and barns.

"Welcome to the Walter house"
