A Love to Last

Chapter nine

At the library.

Blake went to the library with lrene and she was wearing his robe and it looked good on her despite it was big on her.

"You look good in it"he said as they were going to his library.

"It is not my size.how can i look good in this"she said pointing at the robe.

"When a guy loves a girl,she looks good to him even when she wears rags"he said grinning.

"You are so cheesy"she said rollin her eyes and they laughed.

When they entered the library.Blake brought out a stack of romance novels that she could not read finish.

"Omg!how did you know my favourite genre and author"she gushed.

"You are a lady,all ladies love romance with a happy ending.And about the author i have my ways of finding things out."blake said.

As she read the novel,blake kept glancing at her and she did not look at him because sge was engrossed in the novel.He could not believe he was jealous of a novel.She did not even have his time.'i think i should also read a novel.At least i should try to love what she loves'he thought and picked one of the novels and tried reading it but later threw it because it was too cheesy and she simply laughed.

At the yates mansion.

The yates and the mcphersons were gathered at the yates mansion,discussing the engangement of vicki and blake.

Mr yates was the first to speak concerning why they were all gathered there.

"Well i believe we all know why we are all gathered here"he started.

"Yes yes"mr mcpherson replied.

"As we all know that blake and vicki are getting married soon.And the paparazzis are invited.They should be giving updates by now."mr yates said and blake already felt uncomfortable knowing that irene would find out about it.

"I am not feeling too well.I would go upstairs to my room now"blake told them.

"Why would you leave in the middle of a meeting?!"blake's dad half yelled.

"No no,its fine actually.we would not want our groom to be sick during the egangement,am i right?"vicki's dad said jokingly.

"Well i guess you are right"mr mcpherson said.

Before blake left he stared daggers at vicki and vicki shivered.If eyes could kill vicki would have been dead by now.

Vicki immediately put on a fake smile when she wanted to compliment blake

"My husband is truly a gem.I can't just wait to get married to him"she said with a fake smile.

"I can see your parents raised you well.My parents made a good choice in ensuring that you both get married."mr yates complimented her.

"Thank you dad"she said.

The next day.

When irene got to work she saw that the staffs kept giving her a type of look,but she was so sure it was different from the look they gave her before.They gave her a look of'in your face,how does it feel to have your love taking away from you'or 'So there was nothing between you both and you were so proud of nothing"kind of look which left her so confused.

When she got to blake's office she sat down seeing he had not arrived.She brought out her phone and was met with the biggest shock of her life.

*The richest man in new orleans,Blake Yates is getting engaged in less than a week.

*Blake Yates is getting engafed to Vicki Mcpherson.

*Blake Yates is getting engaged to his long time childhood best friend.

Irene gasped for breath.Tears gushed out of her eyes.

"This can't be!No!no!no!it could be another blake,this could just be a coincidence.No,who am i kidding,it obviously blake,it is obviously blake.He is going to be engaged soon"she half yelled at herself.

Ring*ring*ring*.

Her phone was ringing,she checked the caller id and saw that it was blake.She ignored the call and kept crying.It rung the second time and she kept ignoring it.He kept on calling determined not to give up.She got fed up and picked the call

"Hey why do you keep calling me?Aren'tyou with your new found love!Stop calling me!You have broken my heart once and i won't let you do that ever again.No wonder you are not at work by now,you want to spend time with your sweet hea..."she was letting out her anger when blake cut her short.

"I love you irene."hearing his voice melted her heart and all her anger vanished.

"i am sorry.i am taking care of it right now.i know you are angry at me right now but just trust me okay?Since i would be absent please go home and rest and take your meds if necessary because you cried.I love you.And remember i will never break your heart or make yo sad again,i promise"he said.

"I love you too"she muttered.

Hearing his voice calmed her down.Hearing her cry so much broke blake's heart.He did not want to see or hear her cry but all this was not his fault either.

He groaned out of frustration.He ran his fingers through his hair angrily.

"I have to find a way to cancel this engagement.I will tell dad i am not interested.What is the worst he could do?Disown me?i have my money already,i have my name already,i am the richest man in new orleans i don't need him.He doesn't even love me,he only needs me to grow his business."With that thought in mind,he drove to his parent's house.

It was past twelve when blake got to his parents home.

When he got there,he went to his dad's study knowing that was where he usually spent most of his time.

He knocked on the door and entered after getting permission from his dad to come in.

"Good afternoon dad"he greeted him.

"Go straight to the point.There must be a reason you came here. I have things to do."he said harshly without replying to his greetings.

"I don't want to get married to her"blake said to his father,looking at him directly in the eye.

His father looked at him for what seemed like hours to blake but was just five seconds then laughed.

"You must be joking.Don't think you can just walk out of this if you want to.I made a deal with Vicki's father that you both would get married.If you really love this family and if you are truly my son you will get married to that girl and save the Yates family from any trouble."His dad warned.

"I have made a billion sacrifices for this family and i think that's enough.I am not getting married to her and that's it."Blake said firmly and walked out.

"This boy just doesn't know what he is getting himself into"his father said while shaking his head.
