A Love to Last

Chapter ten.

   It was the day of the engagement already and the event was about to begin but Blake was no where to be found.Vicki and her parents along with blake's parents were pacing around the ball each on their phones making one phone call or the other each with different  thoughts in mind.

Vicky was really nervous .She did not want to be humiliated.

  Mr Yates went to meet Mr McPherson to buy time.

"He will be here soon.He is probably trying to look his best for the eve.."he was saying,when...

    "He is not coming.If he wanted to come he would have been here by now."...Vicki interrupted him.

Vicki's dad looked into her eyes and could see fear,humiliation,anger and even sadness in those beautiful hazel eyes of hers.He was heart broken seeing his daughter looking like that,she was looking so stressed.

     "Why don't you have some rest and sit down"her father said,worried about her.

"No dad.I will keep calling him."Vicki was not planning to call Blake instead she wanted to call someone to find out where Blake was but she did not want to say it in front of Blake's parents.

    About five minutes later,she received a call from the same person and she was given the address of where Blake was.

    She immediately ran out of the hall and went to the location.She ran with different thoughts in mind.She was nervous.

When she got there she was surprised to see that the place was shabby. It was obviously not a  place for the rich.

    'I wonder what he is doing here in a place like this'she wondered.

At Irene' s house.

    *knock.*knock,*knock.

   Irene struggled to stand up from the chair and dragged her feet to see who was at the door she was surprised to see Blake standing in front of her door.

    She was dumbstruck.She could not say a word.

       "Wh w wh what a are yo you d doing here?"she stammered as she was still in shock.She looked miserable like she was in pains.

  "I came to see you.I haven't seen you for days and I miss you already."he said nonchalantly like he didn't have an engagement to attend.His own engagement.

     "I know you came to see me but today is supposed to be the day you are getting engaged to Vicki,so what are you doing here?!"she asked,amused.

   "I know but I dont want to get engaged to her.I want to get engaged to you.If i get engaged to her,she is going to look for ways to trap me into the engagement and i would have no choice than to get married to her.Don't you want to get be with me?"He asked looking like he was scared she might say she doesn't want  to be with him.

    "I do want to be with you but then the consequences if your actions are really dangerous,that.. "she was saying when...

    "What is wrong with you?You look sick.Should I get you a doctor?"....blake interrupted her.

   She was indeed in pains.

".."She didn't know what to say.

      How was she going to tell him that she was in her moon time.

  "oh,it's that time of the month"she said in  great embarrassment.She just hoped he wouldn't bring up the topic again.

   He was confused at first,but the it rang in and he immediately understood.He decided to let go of the topic knowing it would make her uncomfortable.

    He had no idea it could make a lady look so...miserable.

  She was about telling him to come in  when Vicki walked over and gave her a slap.

     Both Blake and Irene were dumb founded when Vicki slapped her.They had no idea how she knew where they were.

      "What was that for?How dare you raise your filthy hands to slap her"he roared,gripping her hand with great force that she winced in great pain and you could see fear in those eyes.

   She  hid the fear in her eyes and replaced them with eyes of disgust.Irene told Blake to let go of vicki' s hand out of concern and he did but Vicki took it to be mockery.

   "How dare you  try to act like you care about me?"she screamed.

"I never said I care about you.But I know you are too week to handle the pain."Irene said trying to hide  the fact she actually felt concern for Irene,even if it was just little.

    "(Scoff)you really are a bitch and a slut.You have the audacity to let an  engaged man come into your home..what am I even saying..you let an engaged man come into this'rat hole' you call home.You really are a cheap slut.

    If not for Irene,Vicki would have been dead or brutally injured by Blake seeing how angry he was at the moment.

  "I came willingly.No one forced me into coming here.I would rather die than get engaged to you.You are the slut.A slut that forces herself on a man who doesn't love her..not even a single bit."He retorted.

    Vicki couldn't take it anymore,she ran away to God knows where with tears in her eyes.

    Irene walked into her house and left the door open for Blake to come in.Blake came into her house and closed the door.

   "You can have your seat.What is your plan?I mean how do you want to change your parent's mind about your engagement with Vicki?You can't just decide to disobey your parents just because you want to.I understand you're doing it for me but you have to think about this well"Irene said to Blake.

    "You just don't get this.I  not getting  engaged to her no matter what.There is absolutely nothing they can do about it.I will be going out of the country for just a few days.When i get back I will inform my parents about it and I am sure my mum and sister will agree to it.I will get going now.pls don't leave your house.Bye"he said then kissed her on her forehead.They said their goodbyes and he left.

   The next day.

Blake had already traveled to meet his sister.He was staying with her for a while.He secretly sent bodyguards to guard Irene and she was unaware till now.They always stayed at a safe distance.

   Irene was in her house,cooking when she heard a knock on the door.She thought it might be betty.She went to open the door and saw a man who seemed to be in his late forties standing right in front of her door with a woman who she could tell was his wife

   "Good day sir.Please may I know who you are?I don't think I have seen your face before."She said.

      "I am Blake's father.Can I come in now?"Irene's face paled instantly.Beads of sweat started appearing on her forehead.
