Becca wandered into the rec. room lagging a little behind the others.
It had been a very long day. She'd been reprimanded and given demerits for late assignments, and had been sent to the head master for "uniform violations". Head Master Willis was a bit odd, but had sent her back to class, saying her clothes were fine. The "clones" hadn't made it any easier. They'd been in top form today, teasing the life out of her every chance they got.
Becca sauntered over to the air hockey table. Chris and Terry, the two guys she'd seen the night before, were in the middle of a game. She leaned on the edge and watched.
The game ended 7 - 2, in Chris's favor.
"How do you always win, " Terry asked straightening his slightly disheveled hair.
Chris grinned at his friend, "Just good, I guess."
He glanced over, suddenly realizing she was there, "Oh, hey. You're the new girl...uh, Becca, right?"
"Yep. That's me."
"I'm Chris Gale, and this is Terry O'Shea." He motioned towards the blonde guy. "He got here about four months before you."
"Really? Where'd you move from?"
Terry smiled, "London. Dublin before that."
"Oh wow, really? I thought moving from one state to another was hard. Jumping continents like that must have been really rough."
"It was, but I'm kind of a chameleon. I adapt easily to new surroundings."
"So," Chris said, easing him self back into the conversation. "How are you adapting, Becca?"
"Not to good, I'm afraid."
Chris winced, "The Barbie dolls making life difficult?"
"Barbie dolls?"
"The popular girls. The ones at the the top of the pecking order."
"Oh," Becca smiled. "Them. Yeah. They're less than kind. I don't match up with their criteria for perfection, therefore somethong must be wrong with me."
Chris shook his head, "I don't see why they think everyone has to be just like them."
Becca shrugged,"Who knows."
Curfew rang and everyone began heading back to their dorms.
"Hey, do you have anyone to eat with at breakfast," Chris asked as they left the rec room.
Becca smiled," I don't have any one to sit with period, why do you ask?"
"Why don't you sit with us? It'll be better than sitting alone, or with them."
Becca smiled," I'd like that."
"Sweet," He grinned. "Goodnight, Becca. See you at breakfast."
