Chapter 4 (To Be With You)

By the time the two had finished the show seemed to have almost come to an end, they decided it was best if they headed back to the tent and that's just what they did.

When they arrived they sat down as they waited for the ringmasters along with Gabby and Ellie who had fallen asleep while waiting, Jake began to feel sleepy as well, yet he tried to not fall asleep as he was the only one who could keep an eye on everyone.
Needless to say, he failed at doing that and eventually dozed off as well, unintentionally laying his head on Tom's shoulder as he fell in a peaceful slumber.
Tom on the other hand didn't know what to do, he was trying to understand his feelings, for whatever reason the whole time Tom was around Jake he felt very happy and comfortable around him, a warm and gentle feeling sparked in him when the mummy did or said something sweet for him, he didn't understand what was happening but he knew that something was happening to him, he wasn't sure if these symptoms were safe and they will ware off soon or if they were serious or dangerous.
While Tom thought about the symptoms he was finally brought back to the earth when he heard a voice.

"Well well, what do we have here?"

Said the voice, Tom looked up to see the same two men from earlier, a tan brown haired man and another dark haired man who was standing in front of him.

Tom:I uhm.. Hello there?

Just then Jake woke up again, he freaked out when he saw the two men, but he managed to play it cool right after.

Jake:Hello there, i see the show is finally over am i correct?

:You are! And we've been notified of our two guests here, must say it was nice of you and Ellie to keep an eye on them.

Jake:Mhm, but Ellie spent the entire time chatting with the newbie and ended up falling asleep after, i had to take care of these two the whole time.

Tom:Wait but-

Before Tom could finish his sentence Jake stomped his foot, Tom clenched his fists to try and not yell from the pain, he looked at Jake who was glaring at him to keep quiet.
He did just that to not upset the boy more.
Just then Ellie woke up along with Gabby, the two fixed their composure and looked up at the ringmasters.

Trevor:Oh we forgot to introduce ourselves, we are the ringmasters of this circus, my name is Trevor and this is my partner Derek.

Tom:Nice to meet you?

Gabby:Nice! My name is Gabby, he's Tom!

Said Gabby, introducing the two on her own.

Derek:Well Gabby and Tom, we need you two to follow us so we can make you sign the contract.

Tom:What contract?

Trevor:To become a part of the circus! We will also be choosing roles for you.

Ellie:Don't think that's necessary since Gabby's told me that they're a jester duo.

Gabby:Oh uhm, yeah! That's exactly what i said, the comedy and tragedy jester duo!

Trevor:A clown duo? Wonderful, just what we needed!

Tom was just confused by the entire conversation, jester duo? A contract to stay in the circus? He couldn't figure out anything about the current mess they were in.

Derek:So shall we go to our office then?

Trevor:Yeah yeah, oh and Ellie and Jake, since you two seem to have been getting close to the clown duo you have the honor to finish the ritual and then maybe show them around the circus?

Jake:Not like we have a choice anyway, but an honor to do so.

Ellie:The one time i agree with you.

They glared at each other again, Trevor clapped his hands to bring back the attention to them.

Trevor:Perfect, then chop chop, let's get going!

They arrived at the office, Tom and Gabby sat down on two empty seats in front of a desk while Derek and Trevor sat on the seat on the other side.
Meanwhile Ellie stood next to the seat where Gabby was sitting and so was Jake standing next to Tom's, the two ringmasters then threw a bombshell on the two, they began to explain how the circus was not only a fear feasting spider like castle but it was also like a birdcage that trapped souls of dead people in it, most likely the only thing that kept souls in the world of the humans.
As the two ringmasters further explained how if they joined the circus on how the ritual would work, the member of the circus next to them must stab the live person with a dagger that can suck their soul and worst fears, once it happens the person will fall in a pitch black void where they must sign the contract to become an official member, once that's done they can finally stay.

Derek:And that is pretty much it.. Now it's your decision to make, are you willing to risk your lives to stay in this circus of horrors for the rest of eternity.

Said Derek as him and Trevor held out a hand for each to shake in approval.
For Tom that was an instant no, though it would feel nice to be living in a circus to stay far away from the laboratory, he wouldn't be risking his life just to escape from scientists, he didn't think Gabby would either, but when he looked over at Gabby he saw her holding Trevor's hand, shaking it!?

Tom:Gabby!?

Gabby:I'm sorry but i really want this.. I know you do too deep down.

Tom thought about it.. She looked back at the ringmasters.. And then at Him.. Was he really willing to risk his very own life? He didn't know what to do, the pressure did nothing but overwhelm him, yet the thought of being able to stay somewhere that was seemingly safer than staying in a laboratory room sounded way better, and he didn't really want to leave Gabby alone with these people.. Plus the thought of being around the mummy boy for more than a minute sounded like he could win the lottery, Tom really really liked this guy despite having met him only today, he looked back at Derek's hand, he hesitantly grabbed it and shook it. The ringmasters smiled.

Trevor:Let the ritual begin, Jake, Ellie, it's your turn now!

And just as he said that, Ellie and Jake picked up their dagger and stabbed the two, right on their chest, for a moment Tom gasped before he evaporated.
The last thing he saw was Jake's face, he looked disappointed? And very upset, Tom thought if he did the right choice but honestly he would've done anything only to be with the guy.
Everything was pitch black, Tom looked at his hand and saw a pen, in front of him was the contract, all he had to do now was to sign, and he would be an official member of the circus of horrors.
He pressed the pen on the paper and wrote his name on it, he had signed, suddenly a light string traced around Tom's neck and he was pulled back to the surface.

Tom jolted up, he found himself in a bed, inside of a room he wasn't aware of, looking around he saw Gabby sleeping soundly on the other bed next to him.

Tom looked up, he saw Jake leaning against the doorframe, with tired eyes and a teasing smile.

Tom:Oh, hey Jake.

Jake:Morning Tom.

Tom:Gosh i feel like i just got shot in the head, and why does my neck hurt like a rope is stretching around it? What happened yesterday?

Jake:Well you signed the contract, that's what happened..
