"Go long!" Kale shouted as I tried to catch with my good hand.
Kale and Mark both agreed to help me practice.
I didn't want to get behind just because of a stupid injury.
"You know, you probably should rest you hand if you ever want it to heal." Mark told me and Kale nodded.
"Yeah coach probably won't even let you play right now."
I shrugged. At least it wasn't my foot.
It'd kind of suck to be a kicker who couldn't kick."It's ok we'll still practice with you anyways." Mark patted me on the back.
Suddenly a car pulled up in front of my house.
Catie stepped out of her white and red Chevy Nova and walked over to where we were.
"My birthday's tomorrow and I need help picking out a few things."
"Oh I'll come with you." Me and Mark said in Unison and everyone laughed.
"Sorry it's a girls day today." She giggled."Ha!" I teased and stuck my tongue out.
"You are so immature Julia." Mark said and chuckled.
_________________________I soon realized that going shopping with Catie was a mistake. She wanted to get almost everything.
"What about this one?" She stuck a bright pink bikini in front of my face.
"No. ew. Too... Girly."
"I am girly!" She laughed, "ok, ok what about this?"
It was a strapless white bikini.
"What if you get your period and forget tampons?"
"Oh right... Um this?"
After like a billion more swimsuits she took a solid navy blue bikini off the shelf.
"That's the one!" I smiled.
They say third times a charm but this was probably the 33rd...
"Ok now I have to try it on! Choose one for yourself while I'm changing!"
A bikini? I wasn't really into that stuff. With my mom constantly away on business trips, I never really shopped for anything girly.
I finally settled with the least girly one I could find. It was a high neck black bikini.
Catie finally came out of the dressing room.
"That'll look so good on you 'lia!" She smiled.
"Thanks."
We checked out and walked to the next store for refreshments ideas.
_________________________Three and a half hours later we were finally finished shopping.
"Do you want to come over for a bit and help me decorate?" Catie asked.
I honestly didn't want to. I was tired and besides, I couldn't anyway.
"Can't."
She frowned, "why not?"
"My moms back from her trip and I barley get to see her."
"Oh! Well then let's get you to your house fast!" She smiled and sped up.
I'm deathly afraid of roller coasters so 95 miles per hour down an empty street was not helpful."STOPPPPP!!!" I screamed. My knuckles were white from holding onto the car for my dear life.
She slowed down, "what's wrong?"
"Um if you crashed I'm pretty sure I would die! Trust me I do not have a death wish."
She laughed, "come on it's not THAT bad."
"Um I'm pretty sure it is."
She laughed and pulled into my house.
THANK YOU LORD THAT I WASNT MURDERED BY MY BEST FRIEND IN THAT CAR.I walked into my house just to hear my mom and dad arguing in the kitchen.
I pressed my ear on the door where our kitchen was.My parents didn't like to argue in front of me, but they still did it a lot.
"AND HOW EXACTLY ARE WE SUPPOSED TO PAY FOR JULIAS COLLEGE IF I DONT KEEP THIS JOB?!" My mom yelled.
"HOW WILL JULIA EVER FEEL LIKE SHE HAS A MOM IF YOURE GONE ALL THE TIME." He screamed back.
It was silent after that and my mom stormed out of the room.
Ialready figured I'd get caught listening to their conversation. I usually did, but this time was different. My mom didn't run up to me and apologize.
I almost thought she didn't notice me until she said, "Could you mind your own business for ONCE?! YOU ARE SUCH A DISOBEDIENT, RUDE, AND IMMATURE CHILD!"
I ran out of my house crying.
I finally stopped running and sat on the swing at the park.
I suddenly felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned around thinking it would be my mom ready to apologize. It wasn't.
"Um are you okay?" It was Noah.
"Go away." I sulked.
"Listen I know I hate you and you hate me and everything, but Im not someone to leave a teammate feeling down."
"I appreciate that you're trying to be nice for the first time, but it's really not a good time. I'd just rather be alone."
"Are you sure?"
I nodded and I was serious. The only thing I could think of when I saw him was hate and that was something I really didn't need right now.
"Ok well I'm sorry. By the way, this doesn't mean I'm a nice person. I still hate you." He was serious too.
Finally he walked away and I could cry in peace.
The only person I wanted to care for me right now was my mom.
