Today was the big day.

Homecoming.

I planned on going to the dance with Catie, but since all the drama I doubted that'd be happening.

It didn't bother me that much though. At least I still had the game.

"Alright hurry up you'll be late for school." Dad said pushing me out the door.

"Okay, okay." I said and started to sprint.

This was the time to show them who I could be.

If we won this we'd finally be seen as champions.
I knew I had to straighten my life out.
Not just in football, but I needed to fix all my problems.

I needed to deal with the fact that my parents would probably never get back together, I needed to deal with showing them who I could be, and lastly I needed to show Catie the truth.
I need to find a way.

When I got to school I immediately went over to Catie. I was done waiting for things to happen for me. It was time I took charge.

"We need to talk." I told her.
"And what makes you think I want to talk to you?"

"Okay I'm fed up with all this drama will you just give me a second to explain."

She rolled her eyes, "go ahead."
"Mark tried to kiss ME. Then I slapped him and he asked me if I liked him back. I said NO. Catie you know I would never, ever try to do something like that to you."

I said, trying to explain every detail right, because if I did anything bad now I was afraid I would lose her forever.

"Why should I believe you?"
"Because, I've been with you all this year. I've never lied to you. I've never turned against you. Why would I now? Catie look, you're my best friend and I don't want to lose you now."

She nodded, "maybe."

Maybe was better than no.

We could be getting closer and even if she said "maybe not" or "probably never." Because even that was better than a simple "No."

I was finally turning my life around and I wasn't going to stop.

Practice went well.
Coach made us do a bunch of drills.
He told us again how important it was for us to win the game.
Just the usual.

When I got home my dad immediately ran to me like a puppy.

"I've got good news!"

"What?" I asked, not that interested.

"Mom's plane just landed! She's coming to see you play!"

"It's not like the NFL or anything, Why would she want to fly in?"

"She said it was to spend more time with you."

"Oh," I smiled, "well then that's great!"

"Ok, but you need to get ready. You have to be at the school in one and a half hours."

"Alright! I'll go."

"Go Warthogs!," I heard my mom scream, "you got this Julia!"

I just shook my head.

I probably wouldn't even be doing much anyway.

I was on the bench just hoping for a field goal so I could step in or at least something.
