Chapter 20: Intertwined Moments

Catra, in her slightly intoxicated state, weaved through the familiar corridors of the ancient castle. Her initial intention to procure food and drinks had taken an unexpected turn. She found herself standing outside the bar, contemplating whether to enter.

As she hesitated, the door swung open, revealing an unexpected companion—Entrapta, the eccentric inventor. A spark of recognition ignited in Catra's eyes, and a shared history unfolded in the moments that followed. Laughter, stories, and the clinking of glasses filled the air as Catra and Entrapta shared a drink.

However, the merriment of the evening waned, and Catra, realizing the precariousness of her situation, decided to leave before matters got worse. She stumbled back to the castle, navigating the dimly lit halls with a sense of determination.

Upon her return, the scent of alcohol clung to Catra as she approached Adora. The concern in Adora's eyes deepened as she noticed Catra's unsteady steps.

"I'm gonna go do something," Catra mumbled, her words slightly slurred.

"Okay," Adora replied, a hint of worry in her voice. She watched as Catra made her way to their bedroom.

Adora, sensing a need for space, decided to check on Bow's arrows upstairs. She climbed the stairs, a quiet tension in the air. As she reached the top, she checked the arrows and then sat on the edge of the bed, her back turned to the bathroom door.

Catra emerged from the bathroom, clad in trousers and struggling to put on Adora's hoodie. The sight caught Adora off guard, and she stood up, flustered. Hastily, she rushed to assist Catra with the hoodie.

"Jesus, Catra, aren't you cold just wearing a hoodie and some trousers?" Adora remarked, her hands fumbling with the fabric.

Catra groaned in response, her movements sluggish. Adora couldn't help but notice the lingering scent of alcohol as she helped Catra.

"Have you been drinking? I can smell it on your breath," Adora observed, her concern deepening.

Catra, still wrestling with the hoodie, sighed. "Yeah, maybe a little. It's been a long night."

Adora finished assisting Catra with the hoodie, her worry etched across her face. "You should have told me. We're supposed to face things together."

Catra met Adora's gaze, a mix of regret and vulnerability in her eyes. "I didn't want to burden you. It's my mess to deal with."

Adora's expression softened as she gently cupped Catra's cheek. "Catra, we're a team. We face the mess together, okay?"

Catra nodded, the weight of the night's events settling between them. As they stood in the dimly lit room, the echoes of laughter and shared stories with Entrapta faded, leaving only the intertwining threads of Adora and Catra's journey, complex and uncertain.
