"GRACIE, just go! i hate this, it's not only affecting you two!" olivia said, pulling her friend out of the car and dragging her all the way to august's apartment. "knock." olivia said firmly, pointing at the door. gracie was about to complain, but the rodrigo girl sent her a stern look, making her shut up and knock on the door. "great, i'll be waiting over here to make sure you don't leave, mkay?" olivia informed her friend, leaving her to go hide behind the staircase.

the door opened and gracie's eyes widened as august's beautiful face appeared.

"wh— gracie? what are you doing here?" the redhead asked, clearly shocked by the brunette showing up at her house at 1:30am. august recently went back home after staying at taylor's for a couple of weeks. she already missed the blonde.

gracie stuttered, not knowing what to say. she didn't want to be there, she was still mad at august. maybe not as much as she had been that night she stormed out, but still mad. olivia cleared her throat from where she was hiding. "i'm here to talk." gracie said, knowing that was olivia's way to kick her shin, telling her to go on.

"oh, uh, well, come in?" august said, opening the door fully and moving to make space for gracie. when both girls were inside, august closed and locked the door. she turned to gracie and watched as the girl took off her shoes and placed them neatly by the wall. gracie knew august hated when people wore shoes inside.

the two girls went to the living room. no one said anything and the silence was painfully loud.

"look, i—" gracie started.

"i'm so—" august said simultaneously.

the girls laughed slightly, and august motioned for gracie to go on.

"thank you, i, uh...i guess i'm here to apologise? um...i know i overreacted a little back then," she admitted, looking down at her fidgeting fingers, "i just...i know you don't like brandon, you've made that very clear, but i just...i'd like for you to give him a chance...you're my best friend and he's my boyfriend, i love you both, i don't want to end in a situation where i'd have to choose between the two of you." gracie's voice was low and shy. "but i still shouldn't have yelled at you and stormed out, i'm sorry."

silence. it was thick and uncomfortable.

"i...gracie, you shouldn't— i'm the one who's sorry. i shouldn't be so interfering, it's your private relationship, it has nothing to do with me, i shouldn't judge stuff i don't know anything about," august sighed, "i think i just don't want to see you hurt, i know your past relationships haven't been the best, i don't want to see you hurt again." she admitted, tears welling in her eyes, "but i trust your judgment, if you think brandon's the one, then i believe you and i'll give him a chance."

gracie looked up at august, a grateful smile on her face, "thank you, auggie...i guess i just want to feel supported by my best friend, i value your opinion a lot, more than anyone else's, but it just feels like you haven't even tried to give him a chance."

"i'm sorry, gray, i'll make sure to give him a chance, i'll always be your biggest supporter, please never doubt that...and for the record, i also value your opinion...a lot...and i love you too, angel."

gracie opened her arms, wrapping them around august as soon as the redhead jumped into them.

"was that olivia clearing her throat in her hallway?" august asked, looking up at gracie. the brunette nodded her head with a small chuckle. olivia was insane, in so many ways.

silence filled the room once again. this time it wasn't uncomfortable, nor was it necessarily pleasant. it was just there. suddenly, gracie's eyes widened in realisation.

"i should apologise to elizabeth, i never said goodbye."

gracie's hands were shaking as her and august walked up to the front door of the geller residence. both michael and elizabeth were home. that was rare. gracie felt horrible for interrupting their limited time together. but she felt more horrible about how she left elizabeth that night.

"let's go in, gray, she's not mad, she's missed you a lot," august reassured the brunette, taking her trembling hands into her own, "ready?" she asked, looking straight into gracie's beautiful eyes.

the abrams girl nodded firmly, turning to the door and waiting for august to open it. gracie didn't feel it was right for her to do, she didn't live there, and the last time she was there, she acted like an idiot.

"dad! ellie! i'm home! gracie's here too!" august yelled into the big house. a pair of feet scurried to the door, and their owner was sporting a huge smile as soon as her eyes landed on the two women. elizabeth had missed her older sisters.

"gracie! aggie!" she squealed, running into her actual sister's arms first. august hugged her tightly and placed a kiss on her cheek before letting her go. the girl turned to gracie, her smile even bigger than before, "hi cici!" she waved, jumping onto the woman, wrapping her arms around her neck. gracie picked her up and spun her around, burying her face in the kid's shoulder.

"hi ellie, i've missed you," gracie mumbled, preparing herself for the apology.

"hello girls, why are you here?" michael geller asked, walking up to his oldest daughter and hugging her.

august answered while her dad hugged gracie, "we've missed you two."

"yeah, and i have to talk with elizabeth about something," gracie smiled, looking down at the eight year old. elizabeth was confused as she looked up at gracie. what did they have to talk about? "c'mere, ellie!" the abrams girl said, putting her hand out for elizabeth to take. the kid did so, and let gracie drag her to another room.

"hi ellie," gracie said softly, sitting down in front of the girl and taking both of her hands into her own, "remember our movie night? where i left to take a call and never came back?" gracie felt the urge to hit herself repeatedly in the head with a shovel. why would she do something so shitty to a little kid?

elizabeth nodded, frowning slightly. she remembered. she had cried the whole night, thinking gracie hated her.

"well, i'm sorry i never came back to you...i had to go pick up my boyfriend, i'm sorry i didn't say goodbye to you."

"why didn't you?" elizabeth's voice was low, she was clearly starting to remember every big emotion she felt that night.

gracie had to take a deep breath before continuing, "your sister and i got into a little argument, i said some not-so-nice things to her and she said some back to me...we got angry, i got angry and i just left...i shouldn't have done that, i'm sorry."

"are you still mad at each other?"

"no we're not, we talked and made up, don't worry." gracie smiled, stroking the back of elizabeth's small hands with her thumbs.

elizabeth smiled too, "so you're friends again?"

"we were always friends, ellie, a small argument doesn't mean you aren't friends...but yes, we're friends and we've forgiven each other."

elizabeth quite literally flew into gracie's arms. for the next two hours she didn't let go once. she'd missed gracie's safe embrace, she'd missed her gracie cuddles, and she'd missed her second sister.
