You woke up at nine and your mom had already started her shift 2 and a half hours ago. You got out of bed and got ready

You looked at your self in the mirror for a few minutes and then went outside to smoke.
As you were in the middle of hitting it carl walked outside of his house with some big dude and shouted

What's up white chocolate!? You shouted back jokingly
Ha ha so funny, carl said sarcastically. Come over here for a second let me introduce you to someone. Carl said.
You weren't done with your joint so you walked over to their house joint in hand.
Once you got over there Carl introduced you guys.
Y/n this is my brother nick he said pointing to the guy standing next to him.

Fuck that week ass shit, come on let's go smoke something that'll last more than 30 seconds. Carl said to you,gesturing to come inside. When you walked in the house there was a pregnant teen sitting on the coach, a brown haired girl somewhere in her 20's talking to a guy that looked in his 40's, and this super dirty homeless looking man getting a beer out of the fridge.
It wasn't to new to you, you've seen it all before in your last apartment building.
Why is there a homeless guy stealing your guy's beer?? You whispered to Carl while the three of you stood inside at the door.

You guys went upstairs and Carl put some weed in a pipe, lit it and handed it to you.

You guys hung out for a couple hours till it was about time to leave for your new job.

You sat down and Carl started the car and pulled out of the driveway.

What's up? He asked while quickly glancing at you then turning his head back to the road.

For the last few minutes of the car ride you kept catching Carl looking at you and making a couple butterfly's fly around in your stomach.

Once it was time to get once of the car you had to say something to him.

You got out of the car and waved goodbye see you later Carl. You said before heading inside to your house.He waved back and went into his house.
As soon as he was out of sight you felt empty.
Why would he give me all these signs and say he wants to get to know me and never mention he has a girlfriend?!? You thought to yourself. Then another thought appeared. Why do I care so much about if he has a girlfriend or not? Do I like him? You quickly shook that thought away and for a couple of hours you spent your time painting your nails and using face masks. After a while you noticed your mom was late and was supposed to be home 30 minutes ago. You thought it was nothing and it could've just been traffic. Using the money you made from "work"
You headed to the gas station to buy your mom her favorite snacks to surprise her. About 20 minutes later you were about to walk up to your house when you noticed something unusual. There was a car in the driveway,and the car she rented to bring all of our stuff here she'd already returned yesterday. Once you looked at the car a little harder it started to look familiar.you went in side and heard banging and screaming from upstairs. Everything fell out of your hands and you grabbed the gun from under the coach and .sprinted up stairs. You opened yours mom's bedroom door and saw something that brought back horrible memories. It was your mom's ex Darren beating the fuck out of your mom. You pointed the gun at him and screamed
Get the fuck off of her!!!! You yelled at Darren pointing the gun at him. He stoped and began to reach for his back pocket so you quickly pulled the trigger shooting his leg and causing him to fall on the ground knocking the gun he was about to pull on you right out of his hands. Your mom was unconscious at this point so you grabbed Darren's gun and your gun and ran downstairs and sat them on the table than rushed back upstairs and grabbed your mom and put her on the couch. You were sobbing uncontrollably while doing all of this your mom was all you had.
Dialed 911 trying to stop your fingers from shaking. After you hung up the call you just sat on the coach with your moms in unconscious body in your arms waiting for people to show up. Then you heard someone yell your name from the door.
Y/n?!?? Are you okay I hear a gun fire.
Carl please come in I need help! You yelled back desperately.
He came inside and saw what was going on.
Holy fuck is she okay?!? Carl asked rushing over to you and your mom.
I don't know, 911 is on there way here. You said crying hysterically. You got off the coach and sat on the floor with you head in your legs crying.
Carl came and sat beside you and held you tight.
It's gonna be okay. He said in a calm in caring voice. When the paramedics and police arrived you told them everything and Darren and your mom got taken to the hospital. Darren became unconscious when they found him from all the blood his leg had lost but there was marks on your mom from him beating her so he was gonna go straight back to jail.
I'm not sure how long your mom will be in the hospital for, is there a place you could stay at in the mean time? A police officer asked you

Yeah she can stay with me and my family we live right across the street.carl told the cop
When Carl said that you felt like you wanted to get married the next day. Once everyone had left you and Carl went back to his house. Before you guys opened the door to go inside you hugged Carl and cried into his shoulder before you thanked him. He wiped the tears from your eyes and you guys went inside. It was about 8:pm so his family was having dinner. He brought you to the kitchen to introduce you to everyone.

Okay whatever we're going upstairs Carl said to his family before taking my hand and leading me up to him and his brother's room. We were the only ones in there at the time because Carl was trying to teach nick to not sleep on the floor so he had to sleep downstairs on the couch.
What happened earlier?? Your mom was hurt and they pulled out some guy with a shot leg out of your mom's room, was that your dad? Carl asked.
No that was my mom's ex I came home from the gas station and he was beating the shit out of my mom so I shot him in the leg before he could pull out his gun. You told him with a crack voice from crying

All night you guys opened up to each other and by midnight you guys both knew everything about one another. You felt so close to him like you had known him his whole life.
It's late I think I'm gonna go to bed, do you know where I should sleep? You asked hoping it would be with him.
You can sleep with me if you want... not in like a wierd way obviously but there's no extra beds so I guess you don't have a choice. Carl said smirking

You layed down next to Carl in his bed. Just as you were about to fall asleep he put his arms on around you. You stayed totally silent as his body pressed up against your backside.
This isn't good you thought to yourself. He has a girlfriend this is fucked up. The warmth and comfort of him overpowered those thoughts.
You wondered how long you would be staying.
You were hoping forever.
