(Day 11)

Lucryn sneezes, looking miserable as Professor Oliver goes on and on about pokemon. Of course what the professor is saying is interesting, but Lucryn isn't feeling up for learning today.

Lance had given him some cold medicine and sent him to the lab, Sandslash heading back to Steven's side once Lucryn reached the lab. Professor Oliver had excitedly dragged him in and began going on and on about Charcadet, since Lance had been so kind as to give the professor a report on Lucryn.

Lance had left shortly after reaching the lab, but not before telling Lucryn to behave, a rare stern look to his eyes. Lucryn hadn't agreed, but he did plan on doing his job, whatever that may be.

"Charcadet are such interesting creatures as they have two possible evolution paths. Most pokemon only have one possible evolution path, but a few rare pokemon have two or more. These pokemon upon evolving will go down one or the other evolution path. So exciting, you have two Charcadet's, so in the future if they both choose a different path, you could have an Armarouge and a Ceruledge."

Lucryn glances at his right arm, hidden by his sleeve. He could feel the mark warm up as his pokemon stir.

Omni: Come out?

Lucryn: Not now, wait a bit.

"Oh my, look at the time, I sure do get carried away sometimes. Alright, come along, I've decided to have you research Charcadet's since you so pleasantly have two. This assignment will last for a month, perhaps more, but I want you to research everything there is about Charcadet's and training methods for them. I'm creating a report on training fire type pokemon, so your research will surely help with that. You can use lab facilities, just be sure to ask an experienced member for help. Oh, and the outdoor arena is open to use, many researchers do mock battles there as part of their research." Professor Oliver shares, Lucryn's eyes widening. 'This seems to be quite beneficial to me.'

"Alright now run off and get to work, I'll check in with you on and off throughout the week." Professor Oliver makes a shooing motion after handing Lucryn a key card, his ID for within the facilities. Lucryn nods in thanks to the Professor and wanders off, heading for the library. Steven's library back at his house was quite impressive, but the Professors collection still trumps Steven's by a good bit. Gathering books on fire types, Lucryn dives into his research.

Nearing the end of his work shift, someone enters the library, attracting his attention. People come and go from the library all of the time, but this new entry has a pokemon with him. A small Torchic follows beside him, letting out curious noises as it looks around. The youth is almost the complete opposite of his pokemon, unphased and cold, eyes settling on Lucryn.

Walking over, he stops before Lucryn, bending down so there is only a foot's distance between them. "Lucryn?"

Lucryn blankly looks up at the man whose face is way too close. He can't decide if he should answer or punch the kid. Eventually he gives the faintest of nods. The youth nods back, straightening up and saying, "Come on, I've been paired up with you to research fire type pokemon growth."

Lucryn blinks, 'There's such a thing?' Lucryn wasn't told anything about this, and the youth seems to understand that seeing Lucryn's failure to react.

"The professor forgot to mention it? So like him. Well, come on." The youth reiterates, Lucryn rising, following the youth out. The youth leads the way to the battle arena outdoors where a fight between two electric type pokemon is going on. Signaling something to the referee, the youth turns his attention back to Lucryn. "Prove you're worth my time kid. I won't be held back by a child."

The battle before them dwindles to an end, and the youth enters the battle arena, taking a stand on the left side, Torchic in front of him. Lucryn frowns a tad, this isn't what he wants to do right now. Thinking of the books he left behind, he regretfully enters the battle arena. With a thought, a summoning array appears, Omni rising up, letting out a battle cry as he takes in his surroundings. Lucryn gazes at Torchic, another frown crossing his lips. 'Omni will lose.'

"This is a one on one battle between Charcadet and Torchic, are both sides ready?" The referee yells, getting a nod from both sides. "Battle begin!"

Lucryn: Battle as you please, I will observe

Omni: Right!

Omni immediately uses lava plume, slightly startling the youth across from him who has Torchic dodge. A few of Torchic's feathers are signed, but Torchic shows little care about the heat. 'A fire type, the chick pokemon.'

Omni had charged forward in the time Torchic took to dodge, using Ember. Torchic counters with an ember of her own, her ember being slightly stronger, breaking through Omni's. Omni dodges the few remaining embers, now close enough to strike as he kicks out, a sudden darkness covering the field. Torchic, who didn't react due to the darkness, was sent flying back by Omni's kick.

Omni rushes forward once more, throwing out a few blue balls of fire. Will-O-Wisp. The fire doesn't even touch Torchic as Torchic jumps using quick attack to dodge, followed by flame charge. Hitting solidly into Omni, flames coating her body, Omni is flown back, skidding to a stop in front of Lucryn, barely staying standing.

Lucryn: Direct fighting only works if you can overpower the opponent

Omni grunts in response, not charging forward as he wanted to. Torchic opens her beak using flamethrower. Omni's eyes flash dangerously, the arena once more blanketed in shadows, Omni vanishing from where he once stood, reappearing closer to Torchic, arm connecting hard with Torchic's head. Torchic goes flying, midflight righting herself and using ember.

Ember solidly connects with Omni, knocking him to the ground. Omni hisses, rising, eyes burning brighter as his desire to win grows. Torchic lands lightly, quick attack instantly in play as she rockets towards Omni. Omni moves to use ember to hit the oncoming Torchic. Lucryn sighs, 'Omni loses.'

Torchic's trajectory suddenly shifts, avoiding the embers as she uses flame charge, crashing once more into Omni's side, sending him flying backwards. Omni crashes into the barrier erected around them, the collision loud, dust flying everywhere. As the dust clears, everyone is able to make out Omni's form lying on the ground, unconscious.

A summoning Array appears under Omni, Omni sinking into it. With the natural healing ability of pokemon and the buff of being within Lucryn's contracted space, Omni will be fully recovered within a few hours. A summoning circle appears under Torchic, Lucryn's eyes taking it in for the five or so seconds it's visible, Torchic vanishing into it.

The youth walks over, raven black hair covered by a poofy hat, black eyes staring intensely at him. "Rye Akai. Meet me in the library tomorrow, don't be late."

Lucryn watches the youth leave, it would seem Omni has somewhat impressed the youth.

Lucryn: You fought well

Glancing at his Z+ band, he finds his shift is over. Still, his desire to learn and avoid going back to that tiny room, overpowers whatever bit of him is tired. Heading to the outer fields where you can freely practice with your pokemon, he calls out Blayz.

Lucryn: Let's continue training

Blayz: Yes
