Hush Money

The four teenagers rush to the meet-up location that Ward gave to Gavin- a construction site for yet another new home on Figure Eight. The four teens hide behind a fence, peering over from across the road as they wait and watch for the two men to arrive. Ward pulls up, getting out of his car and pacing out front of the building as he waits on Gavin to arrive. Dark clouds roll in, making the night sky even darker and rain starts to fall down.

"Nice camera. Where'd you dig up that relic?" JJ questions the dark headed boy.

"Why don't you just use your phone?"

"Well, first of all I like my antique electronics. Second of all, this is a telephoto. It allows me to get a close image from far away." Pope answers. "And thirdly, my phone is in Gavin's car still."

"Lord of the dorks." JJ sounds from beside of Harli, earning an elbow to his side.

"For definitive proof of witness payoff, we're gonna need quality glass."

"There he is!" Harli whispers to the group. "He's here to meet with Ward."

"Are you getting it?"

"Yeah, I see them."

"Wait, where are they going?" Kie questions in a panic as the four teenagers watch as the two men enter the construction site and climb a few levels up.

"Come on! Hurry! This way!" JJ leads the three other teens to a ladder, taking them up to the roof of the building across the road. The four teens race quickly up the ladder and set up on the roof to watch.

"Can you see them?" Harli questions the dark headed boy as he readjusts the camera.

"Yeah, I see them."

The four Pogues watch as Ward hands the pilot a duffle bag of something, the four assume money. They continue to watch as an argument breaks out between them. Ward starts yelling at Gavin, but the teens can't hear what's being said. Suddenly, the two men begin fighting over the gun. Kie and Harli both start crying as they watch what's happening. JJ tries to calm the two girls as they continue to watch. Ward pushes the pilot back and he falls on something. Gavin becomes angry and begins to yell at Ward.

At this point the rain is pouring down on the four teenagers. Suddenly, there are gunshots. The four teens duck down behind the wall of the building to hide.

"Holy shit!"

"Pope, you have enough, right?" JJ questions the boy.

"Yeah." Pope answers.

"Hold on. He's coming out." Kie informs as they watch Ward exit the site, searching for something on the street. He must've dropped the gun, because it's no longer in his hand.

"I think he's looking for the gun."

"He must've dropped it." Harli agrees as Kie stands from her spot on the roof, yelling at Ward from above.

"What is wrong with you?" Kie shouts. "Murderer!"

"What the fuck, Kie!" Harli quietly yells at her as she pulls the girl's arm, pulling her back down as Ward starts looking around for where the yelling was coming from.

"Are you crazy?"

"What are you doing?"

"I don't care if he hears me. He's a murderer!"

"Yeah, a murderer that now knows we're here!" Harli yells at her best friend.

"Guys, we've gotta get out of here. I think he sees us." Pope interrupts as he peeps over the roof wall looking over.
