Chapter Seventeen
PERCY"Good morning." Annabeth smiled. "Percy?"
He was lying on the bed, his arms behind his head, in his boxers. He moved to rest on his now-crossed arms. "Wise Girl..."
"Yes, Seaweed Brain?" Annabeth moved closer. She was wearing a satin pink dressing gown, her gorgeously long legs slim and tanned from their honeymoon. Percy stared at his beautiful young wife of two months. She perched on the edge of the bed, smirking at him.
Her smile dropped as he sighed. "What is it?"
"You know I love you, right?" He leant over and tucked a blonde curl behind his ear, but she pulled away.
"Percy," she said nervously, "you're scaring me."
"I want to tell you something," he said quietly. He moved his hand down to take hers. She was warm under his touch. "I'm not sure if you're going to like it, and it might ruin things, but please know that I love you and this really, really doesn't have to change things if you won't let it."
"Percy." Tears filled Annabeth's eyes and she flew to her feet. "Don't you dare," she whispered, crying. "If you're going to tell me what I think you are -"
"Annabeth -"
"No, we've only been married two months and you've already cheated on me?"
"Annabeth -"
"I don't want to hear it! I -"
"ANNABETH, SHUT UP!"
She hushed suddenly, her face pink, her tears stopped. She sniffled and sat down, and ran a hand through her hair. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry," she said quietly, and put her head in her hands.
Percy sprung forwards and wrapped his arms around her. "Hey, sssh," he said soothingly. He then pushed her away and held her by the shoulders, looking her dead in the eye. "Wise Girl. I have not cheated on you."
He bit his lip. "What I wanted to tell you is hard, and I know we're only seventeen and if you're not ready then, then... that's okay. This is about us, nobody else.
"Annabeth... do you ever think about having children?"
Annabeth looked at him, her eyes grey and unreadable. Then she leant over and kissed him, gently at first, then slammed him back onto the bed and kissed him harder. He wrapped his strong, muscly arms around her and kissed her back, running his fingers through her thick, silky curls.
It wasn't until a few hours later that they spoke again.
"I'm sorry," Annabeth whispered as they lay in bed together, his arm around her, her head on his shirtless chest. She looked up at him. "I... I didn't really think you'd cheated, Percy. I swear on the River Styx.
"I was just scared. Everything you said -"
"I know, love." Percy pulled his wife closer and kissed the top of her head. "Thinking back, I didn't exactly phrase it right, did I?"
He moved and leaned over her, his arms pushing him up above her, looking down at her. He bowed down and gave her a quick, sneaky peck on her soft plush lips. "I love you," he whispered.
She smiled. Her grey eyes looked silvery in the darkly-lit room. Her hands rested lightly on his smooth back. "Yes."
Percy raised an eyebrow. "Yes?"
"Mm-hmm," Annabeth said with a nod. She threw him a playful smirk and pulled him down on her, but he pushed back off. "Percy," she said, pouting, pretending to be hurt. "Don't you want to do it again?"
"You know I do," Percy grinned back. "But what do you mean, 'yes'?"
Annabeth smiled. "Yes, I do think about having children. All the time."
And they did it again.
It was early morning. Percy shook Annabeth awake, who had her back to him. "So you think about having children, all the time?"
She yawned. "Yes."
Percy waited, and he knew what was coming. "There's a but, right?"
Annabeth smiled sadly. "But... we're only seventeen, Percy. We're newlyweds. I'm really only just beginning my career as the architect of Olympus - we were in Tartarus just three months ago." She closed her eyes and Percy felt an overwhelming pulse of love for her. "I still have nightmares, Percy. About Arachne, Dr Thorn, Medusa. And..." Her voice trailed off as she began to sob. "Percy, I still have nightmares about dying."
Percy reached out and pulled her close to him. She bent down and hugged him, cradled to his chest, crying her heart out. He stroked her calmly, muttering sweet kind words to her, until she calmed down.
"Annabeth." He gently took her face in his hands and stared in her eyes. "Sweetheart, we can do this. I think maybe, just maybe, kids could change us. We'd start with one, and then another."
He gasped. "What?" Annabeth asked. She hated not knowing.
"We could name one of them Michael."
"Michael? Why..." Annabeth cottoned on. "Percy, no -"
"Me and Michael. And some others. Then we could make... THE JACKSON FIVE!"

Sorry, guys - I accidentally published this halfway through the chapter! So I've edited it because the half I'd finished with didn't save, for some reason, and now it's not as good as it was.
Sowwwwwwy.
Feels box is broken by this Percy-coma-dream.
