Martyn's Perspective-
Alright so now we're kinda breaking into Martyn's pov of the memory. Like...like he's not explaining it and more reliving it if that makes any sense. Idk how to explain it, but you'll understand in the chapter. Enjoy!
I dropped my fork and it fell to the floor with a clang.
"Wha- what?"
My mother looked down and my father wrapped his arm around her.
"N-no, impossible, Cooper- that wouldn't happen to him."
"Martyn, I'm sorry- "
I felt tears well in my eyes and I ran up to my bedroom, slamming the door closed.
-
"Mom? Dad?" My voice cracked as I poked my head outside of my room and walked towards the living room.
My parents stopped talking and looked over to me.
"Yes Marty? What is it?" My father asked.
I glanced at the TV, which was playing the news of my brother's death.
My train of thought stopped as I read the captions.
"Cooper Little-Wood and Astrid Xhoni were both killed today after facing a battle with their comrade Canon Everett, a 16-year-old who has claimed that they lost control over their powers and accidentally killed Cooper and Astrid. Officials are planning on questioning them later."
I looked back to my parents.
"Canon?" I asked, "That's...that's the guy who..."
My mother nodded.
I glanced at the TV, which changed to report other news.
I sighed and sat down on the couch next to my mother.
She wrapped her arm around me and hugged me close.
I promise you, Cooper, I'm going to beat Canon for you.
This is gonna be like a time skip through the years, if you have any questions let me know-
As the years went by, I learned everything I could about my power, and Canon.
They claimed they lost control of themself and 'accidentally' killed my brother and his teammate, but when the officials went to go question them, they teleported away.
Apparently, Canon got in a pretty big fight with the police officers and some actually ended up in the hospital.
It was amazing to me to see someone only two years older than my brother do so much damage, but I guess they learned it from school.
I knew that the high school always trained superheroes pretty seriously and made them strong enough to face anything, so it made sense why Canon was so strong, but I just don't understand how they could straight up kill my brother like that.
I could never wrap my head around it, and soon I grew up and slowly graduated middle school and started high school.
I was ready for this, to start training to become a real superhero and be able to stop Canon.
But what I wasn't ready for was to find...him.
