Through Time.

Prologue

"Mother?" A boy's voice rang out in the middle of the night. The young woman glanced at her son in sorrow.

"What's wrong?" The child's voice called out to his mother, who only responded by bringing the boy it I her arms. And stroking his hair. She wasn't sure if this was to ease him, or herself.

"Where's onii-chan?" The boy asked looking up at his mother, her eyes flickered at the question and she felt more tears run down her face.

"You won't be seeing your brother again, Momonosuke."

"Luffy!" An orange haired woman shouted from the ship as the young pirate advanced onto the island they had just docked at. The boy with a straw hat laughed loudly and glanced at the girl. "It'll be fine Nami! Besides," he laughed and pat his stomach. "Im starving!"

Nami sighed loudly leaning her head on the railing of their ship, The Going Merry. A curly black haired man with a comically large nose stepped onto the railing "It's no use Nami, Luffy will never use common sense." Nami let out a huff and just agreed and then looked back. "Zoro?" She called out and then got even more frustrated "Why did I agree to go with you people?" She muttered quietly, assuming the swordsman was asleep.

Nami and Usopp headed onto the island. They agreed to go to the first restaurant they could find as it was a good spot to check for their captain. As they approached a small tavern, they heard a commotion for inside.

"Oi... Nami?" Usopp uttered his legs shaking a little. "You don't think Luffy got himself into any trouble right?" Nami's eyes narrowed at the thought, she walked into the bar and saw a bunch of bandits laughing and throwing drinks around trashing the place. She didn't care enough right now and her eyes immediately glanced over at the straw hatted pirate. She walked behind him and punched him in the head, his head comically going forward before snapping back on.

"Oh! Nami!" He grinned and looked up at her. But sweat drop when he saw the immense expression on her face. "Do you have any idea how dangerous this island could be?" Nami shouted going off on him. What irked her even more, is the boy just kept eating as she was scolding him. She gave up and sat down next to him. Usopp taking a seat as well.

"The foods delicious here!" Luffy exclaimed in his usual cheery and loud voice. Nami just glanced at him groaning, she then ordered herself a drink. The bartender smiled at the three.

"You kids are awfully cheery. Sorry about the commotion..." He looked troubled, "these bandits are always causing trouble." Luffy's head perked up "Bandits?" Usopp glanced at him and pointed them out. Did you not see them on the way in?" Luffy didn't respond causing Nami and Usopp to just sigh. Luffy crossed his arms and huffed "I can't stand mountain bandits! Maybe..." Before he could do anything, Nami punched him on the head. "Absolutely not! Jesus! Is all you pirates think about beating each other up?" She rested her arms on the counter and rubbed her temples "Why did I agree to team up with you?" As she was contemplating her life decisions the bartender slid her a cold glass. She smiled and begin to sip on it.

"Oi. Who's that?" Usopp's voice asked as a young man walked into the bar. He had fluffy black hair and blue eyes. He slowly walked in and the bar went quiet. Everyone watching with suspense. But the bartender smiled

"Ah! Maki!" He exclaimed "Thanks for stopping by! There's some boxes outside I need you to help me with!" The boy nodded and simply left the tavern. Causing Nami to turn to the bartender. "Excuse me... Sir. Who was that?"

The bartender glanced at Nami. "Hm? Oh Maki? He's a traveling merchant. Stopped by this island around 6 months ago. Kids a beast!" He exclaimed loudly laughing. "He helps out everyone with manual labor stuff. He's got absurd strength." Luffy's ears perk up at that. And he slams his hand onto the counter, Nami and Usopp already had a feeling of what his response was going to be, they hadn't known him for very long but it was obvious. "Let's add him to the crew!" Luffy exclaimed. Usopp looked nervous and Nami just sighed, she figured since she wasn't really apart of their crew yet, she didn't really want to give her say. She also had bigger things to worry about. She gripped her arm tightly thinking about a certain fish man.

Luffy quickly rushed out of the tavern. Nami and Usopp hurriedly followed. When they stepped out they saw Luffy looking in awe and then glanced at the black haired boy from earlier. He was carrying a large wooden crate. With one arm. The crate was quite large, and it had the appearance of being heavy. The fact he could lift it with one arm surprised Nami and Usopp. And caused Luffy to run up to him in excitement "Oi! Do you want to be a pirate?" He said loudly getting in the black haired boys face.

"Not really," said the black haired boy. "I don't feel like dealing with the marines." Luffy didn't even care for an answer he smiled brightly. "I don't care! I like you! Join my crew!" Nami and Usopp shook their heads, feeling bad for the poor boy who obviously was confused by Luffy's antics.

"You're Maki right? I'm Monkey D. Luffy! The man who's gonna be King of the Pirates!" Luffy said to the black haired boy. Whose eyes raised. "King of the pirates? That's quite the ambition." Luffy let out his signature laugh and grinned at Maki. "What role would I serve in your crew exactly?" Luffy paused, he didn't really think of that, he just thought Maki was incredible, Nami sighed and approached the situation. "Well, Maki. Do you have any strengths that this morons crew could benefit from?" She asked, he stared calmly at her. "I'd say I'm quite intelligent." He said simply, Nami chuckled "Don't worry, that's far above the minimum. These guys lack brain cells." She then just smiled "I recommend you just say yes for your own good. This guy won't leave you alone until you do." She said and walked back to Usopp. Maki stared into Luffy's eyes, just as he was going to give his response. A loud crash came from the tavern. Maki was quick to respond and rush in. Causing the Straw hat trio to follow.

As they walked in, they heard a little girl scream. One of the bandits from earlier was holding the girl up by the collar. Luffy quickly rolled up his sleeve "Those Jerks-" Before Luffy could act however, Maki had already approached the bandit. He looked annoyed much taller than Maki, "What do you want brat? Wanna play hero?" Maki coldly stared up at him before quickly swinging his arm forward hitting the man directly in the neck. Causing him to collapse to the ground. The little girl quickly ran back to a woman. Who held her tightly "T-Thank you!" She cried out. Maki just nodded, but then he was surprised as he was hit and send into the bar counter. The other bandits had gotten up and grabbed weapons. Maki walked out of the debris and coldly stared.

"Gum-Gum Pistol!" Luffy shouted causing Maki to look in shock as the boys fist stretched and punched the bandit who seemed to be the leader. Maki stared at Luffy "Y-you had a devil fruit?" He asked appalled, Luffy grinned and grabbed his cheek stretching it out. "Yep!" He let go causing his cheek to slap back to his face. "The Gum-Gum no mi!" Maki just stares in surprise. Nami gently whacked Luffy in the head with her wooden staff "You seriously have the ability to freak everyone out!" Usopp's legs were shaking as he put on his goggles "C-Captain Usopp is here to save the day!" He shouted in a shaky voice. Maki watched the three in awe. Wondering how they could be so carefree. He smiled gently "Thanks. But stay out" The trio looked surprised, Maki calmly stared back at the bandits "They're mine."

"Maki!" The bartender shouted and tossed Maki a sheathed sword. Luffy's eyes lit up "Whoa! A swordsman! Just like Zoro!" Maki glanced back "You know the pirate hunter?" He asked and then chuckled, "what a strange guy you are, Monkey D. Luffy." Maki unsheathed his sword and gently placed his hand on the hilt, before he vanished in quick speed and was behind the bandits. Cutting them effortlessly. Luffy cheered loudly "You definitely have to join my crew!" He shouted. Maki just chuckled and looked at him.

"Sure."

First time writing a fan fiction, reading my own work is honestly embarrassing, I can only think about how bad it is, so I hope it's just me and it isn't actually that bad.

Most chapters are probably going to be long, I have a lot of ideas for this series and I just like to write

Most of this story isn't going to make a lot of sense! I have plans in the future to reveal things so everything fits in place (please be patient <3)
