A boy with Hanafuda earrings walks in the snow. An old man shouts out to him to come inside. He politely declines the offer and continues walking. Halfway through his walk he is met with an ominous smell. It hit him suddenly and was gone as quickly as it came. What was it? Muzan Kibutsuji.
The smell was back again. It was stronger this time. Before the boy could turn around he was hit with a horrible pain in his neck. He was out cold, he could only wake when it was to late.
When he came to he saw he was in a house filled with blood. The people looked familiar but he couldn't place his finger on it.
"Go on, eat." He heard a voice ring out from behind him. He had the same smell as the man from before. Before Tanjiro could even speak the man was gone. He looked around the room, the smell of blood was everywhere. He couldn't escape it. He just cowered in the corner and cried.
He waited for anyone to wake up, to help him. He didn't know who they were but maybe they knew him. As he waited he grew hungry, hungry for blood. It was everywhere and he wanted it. And he needed to heal the wound on his neck or else he would pass out. Soon black spots encased his vision, and he passed out.
He woke up to the smell of cold, fresh air. He was in someone's back, there was a girl running in front of them. He could smell the fresh blood on them. It was intoxicating him, but he desired it.
He began thrashing around like an animal, causing the boy and him to fall off the cliff. The girl turned around and ended up falling as well. The two fell in the snow, and Tanjiro was nowhere to be seen.
The younger boy scanned the woods for his brother. He saw a silhouette in the tree and knew it was him. "No, Tanjiro! You don't have to walk, I can carry you!" The boy ran over, quickly followed by his sister. When he went to check on his brother he lashed out on him, wanting to devour the boy in front of him. The girl tried to pull him off the boy but with no hope.
The younger boy grit his teeth after holding him back to awhile: he came to a horrible conclusion, one that anyone would refused to believe if they met Tanjiro before this happened. "I refuse to believe you've become a demon! My older brother, is the kindest person in the world! He would never do this on his own will!"
Tanjiro didn't know what he meant. Brother? He doesn't know this boy; he also doesn't know why it made him cry. He weeped when the boy said that. Nezuko had found it much easier to pull him off of Takeo now.
In the distance a man with white hair sprinted towards them. His katanas out and ready to behead a demon. He jumped from where he was and swung his katana. "Nezuko, look out!" Takeo screamed as the man tried to behead Tanjiro. She pushed Tanjiro to the snowy ground and the only thing that got cut was her hair. The man had to swerve his sword in the air as not to kill her. He stood by one of the farther trees. "How unflashy! People really are trying to get on my nerves today!" The man yelled out.
Takeo signaled for Nezuko to run with Tanjiro, but the man already sprinted towards her, swords clutched tightly. He tried to push Tanjiro to the snow again but when she looked down Tanjiro was gone— and in the hands of a demon slayer. "Hey—!"
"—Listen kid, you may not now this, but this boy is a demon, and it's my job to kill it." He brought the katana to Tanjiro's neck. "Don't touch him! Who are you anyways!?" Nezuko screamed. "And our brother would never hurt us!" The man scoffed. "I am a god! And he would in fact hurt you, just turn your backs and he'll devour you." Rage was visible on their faces. "He would never! He's—""Let me guess, he's your brother right? Why don't you run along and tell mommy and daddy that your brother was turned into a demon." The two lowered their heads. However the man's demeanor didn't change. "They're dead, aren't they? And this demon boy is probably the one who—!" He was about to cut his head off until he was interrupted. The younger boy threw a stone at him. "Cut his head off, and the hatchet is next!" He gripped the wooden handle of his hatchet.
