Shouting.
There was too much fucking shouting for this early in the morning, Ariadne thought as she rolled over in bed, wiping the sleep for her eyes. Felix's side of the bed was still warm, but there he wasn't there.
She grabbed one of Felix's jumpers that had been discarded on the floor to protect her from the morning chill that spread through the house like a plague.
She exited the room, walking out to the trio on the staircase, catching the tail end of their conversation as she looked down, seeing Farleigh in a confrontation with Elspeth, Duncan hovering in the back ground, ever the protector.
'He tried to nick something.' Venetia told the group, eyes falling on Ariadne, who was coming up behind Felix.
She wrapped her arms around Felix, muttering a good morning to him as he held her hands, playing with the ring on her pointer finger, one he had given her for her 17th birthday. He turned around and kissed her on the forehead, muttering a greeting into her ear as he fiddled with the charm that dangles from her earring.
'What are you talking about?!' Felix was clueless to what Farleigh had done, he thought surely that the boy would not stoop so low as to steal from the family who had given him everything.
'He's a fucking idiot.' Venetia exhaled, pinching her nose due to the stress of the situation. She would hate to see Farleigh go, he was her partner when they played games, hung out and when tomfoolery ensued, Felix had Ariadne and her pride was still hurting from Oliver's refusal.
Oliver asked the group about what Farleigh took, but no one seemed to have a concrete answer as they didn't know.
Ariadne could hear Farleigh below, begging for reprieve, insisting that he didn't steal from the family.
'Please, please Elspeth.' he begged.
It broke Ariadne's heart, Farleigh wasn't someone who would steal from someone else, it just wasn't in his nature at all, sure Farleigh was a spoiled brat but he wouldn't steal from the very hand that fed him.
Duncan moved towards Farleigh and escorted him towards the door, the four could hear Farleigh's sobs echoing up the staircase, begging to let him prove his innocence.
Felix saw his mother shoot a pointed look up the staircase, cold and unforgiving, spotting their vantage point.
'Fuck.'
They had been caught. And what do you do when you get caught.
Deny, Deny, Deny.
It was fucking boiling, out in the garden as the three laid out, sprawled across the pond bank, reading and smoking to their hearts content, BritPop blaring from the stereo. The sun glared down on them, tinging their skin a deep shade of pink.
Ariadne was absent, she had gone inside to make a mixture of alcohol and juice to bring out to the group. Fruit Punch, it was called, a term coined by Achilles to deter her parents from not prohibiting his sister from drinking it.
She grabbed her sunglasses and slung them on her head as she gathered the jug and cups, making her way over to the open door as Elspeth's voice rang out from the wicker loungers, set slightly back from the pond's edge.
'God, I wish we didn't have to go to London.' Felix looked perplexed and faced his mother.
'I didn't know you were going to London.Elspeth looked on in pity as she mused gently over the summer breeze 'Pamela's funeral.'
Felix looked shocked at how easily his mother could declare that she was going to a funeral, she had announced Achilles death in a similar fashion over half a year prior.
Ariadne was rendered speechless as she entered the conversation muttering apologies and condolences to Elspeth, who waved her off.
Oliver jumped in, wanting to get in on the conversation, greedy to know more. 'Pamela died?'
The Cattons all muttered out a cacophony of the word yes, while Elspeth added 'She'd do anything for attention.'
Later on, Felix and Ariadne remained outside while everyone else had retired to prepare for dinner. The pair messed around in the water, splashing each other and jumping in from the dock.
This was everything to the pair of them as they bobbed up and down in the glittering water. Ariadne's legs wrapped around Felix's waist to keep her afloat.
The sunset gave the couple a luminous, angelic glow as they clung to one another as Ariadne nestled her head into his shoulder.
She took his breath away, every single time.
Their lips met, a tangle of love and desire flowered between the pair. Her hands threaded through his hair, water dripping from her fingertips as she squeezed.
Her golden hair, falling around her in a halo, like the goddess she was. Felix would worship her for eternity, even after all the stars in the sky died. Their love was infinite, it was boundless. It would exist for aeons after their deaths.
Neither of them wanted this moment to end. It had to last forever.
However, nothing lasts forever, only death.
