eleven's theme - lover, you should've come over - jeff buckley
Ariadne was bored out of her brains. Felix had left before dawn to take Ollie on a trip for his birthday and she had nothing to do.
Venetia wasn't in the mood to socialise after the loss of Farleigh from the house and Elspeth and Sir James were too busy preparing for the festivities tonight to even entertain the girl.
So, she had spent most of the day preparing her costume for the party, she had chosen Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons from A Midsummer's Night Dream.
Ariadne was drawn to the character, she had been since she first read the play for her A Levels years prior. Something about her really intrigued the girl, the loss of her power all for a man perhaps? Or the fact that she is depicted as a romantic with a penchant for love?
Her dress consisted of a fierce amount of white tulle, which cascaded out from all around her. Intricate gold beading lined the bodice with ample room for cleavage to be on show.
She would be wearing a coronet on her head that glittered with jewels and gemstones, it would so look divine under the flashlights.
Ariadne was busy digging through her side of the wardrobe looking for her gold heels when Felix entered the room.
He looked stressed, something was clearly bothering him. He walked up to the girl, placed a kiss on her lips, grabbed his lighter and left the room leaving his girl in the wake of his mood.
She was fucking confused because what the hell was that?
The door closed gently behind Felix and he was met with Oliver in front of him.
'Felix... Look, Felix. Please, let me just explain.' Oliver had an anguished expression on his face, he was desperate to get the boy to forgive him.
Ariadne stood behind the closed door, listening in on the conversation, what the fuck had Ollie done to piss Felix off?
Felix's voice then graced the seemingly one sided conversation, he seemed distant in tone.
'I think the best thing is for you to go home after your party.' It caused a searing pain to seep into Ollie's chest, not expecting that as Felix carried on.
'It's too late to cancel it now. Summer's almost finished anyway. So I think we'll have your party tonight, and... I will see you back at Oxford.'
Ouch.
Oliver's heart had fractured even more as he clutched at straws begging the Catton boy if they would still be mates after the revelations that had unfolded today.
Then Felix snapped.
'No, it's fucking weird is what it is, mate. Honestly I don't even know where to start. I mean, you're a fucking liar, Ollie... Why would you lie?' Felix's face morphed into an expression of hurt.
Ariadne had enough of listening to Oliver's groveling as she turned away from the door, busying herself with finding her heels.
Dusk painted the sky like watercolour paints, shades of pinks and hazy purples streaking through oranges and reds as Felix joined her on the balcony. He looked like Icarus in all his glory, with his angel wings on, Felix could make even the simplest of costumes look magical.
She was a sight for sore eyes, glitter speckling her face as her long, blonde hair fell in ringlets around her.
He gripped her jaw in his hands, bringing his lips to hers in an explosion of want and desire. She reciprocated instantly wishing she could get lost in Felix. Her heart was a labyrinth and Felix had navigated right through to the centre and she wanted to keep him there forever and never banish him from it.
'Meet me at midnight.' She breathed out between kisses, tonight was the night, she was going to finally tell him that she was utterly in love with him. He deserved to know that.
'Where?' he questioned as he took a breath and held the girl close to his chest. She could hear his heart that so rightfully belonged to her.
'Labyrinth, by the statue' she lent up to kiss him again as he captured her lips as if they were his prize. He hummed in agreement, promising to meet her there.
This time their lips moved in a fervour, desperate for each other's touch. They couldn't get enough of each other.
Jeff Buckley played on the stereo as Felix and Ariadne swayed together on the balcony. Dancing. Felix spun her around and it was magical. Love was hardly the word for what she felt for Felix, it was extra ordinary what she felt. There was no word in any language for it.
The fates that be watched the dancing couple, feeling immense sorrow at the ending that was about to befall the pair of lovers, but all is fair in love and war?
Oliver Quick was about to start a war and this was the last dance or parlay of peace before chaos reigned.
